Goose Creek State Park - Washington, NC

The Captain and I took Sea Baby upstate over the weekend. We went down The Neuse then followed the ICW into Belhaven where we topped off the gas tanks. (Sighted "Walkabout" when we walked about the town.) Then it was back down to Pamlico Sound and west to Goose Creek State Park where we tied up for the evening.

Upon entering Upper Goose Creek you'll find Dinah's Landing Boat Ramp on the western shore. But if you go about a 1/4 mile past the ramp entrance and around the bend you'll see a small dock on the eastern shore. The water was deep enough (3 or 4 feet) we were able to tie Sea Baby up with no problems.

After tying up, we followed a path for about 1,000 yards where there are trash cans, freshwater, and a bathroom. After spending the night at the dock we got up Sunday morning and investigated one of the park's nature trails.

We logged about 85 miles going up and another 50 coming back with temps in the 57-62 F range with hardly any wind. Did get down to 28 F Saturday night but we were warm and snug. Did experience problems Sunday AM getting the gas in the cassette stove to burn but we had a Jet Boil to get us some instant hot water for the morning coffee. (Once the temps got above 40 F we were about to use the cassette stove for making breakfast wraps.)

Nice clean park and the price was great! FREE since we came in the backdoor and did "really" camp in the park.

Oops! Made a mistake. Last paragraph should have read:
