Got our I-68s!

OK, just returned from the US Customs and Border Protection office in Blaine, and Pat, Patty and Austin are now good for telephone check-in to the U.S. on return from Canada for the upcoming year! We got I-68s no. 4, 5 & 6, and the CPB agents there were, well, putting it charitably, pretty much unfamiliar with the drill. We did fortunately get a guy with a bit of a sense of humor (if you go to Blaine, ask for Agent Elliott, and tell him the Andersons sent you). One other guy Elliott asked some questions to was overheard muttering something about "pain in the ass" and gesturing - I am not making this up! You need THREE passport photos, and of course the photo places only give you two - but Elliott fudged, made a photocopy of the passport photo for the third one, thank goodness. They also want you to have your boat registration, but were good enough to look us up in their database - not sure how that would have gone if we had never cleared customs in Daydream before. Full set of fingerprints taken. Took a bit more than an hour and a half, cost was $32 for the three of us. We are also going to do the Nexus thing, that is good for 5 years, but takes up to several months to get apparently. The I-68 you receive right then and there. Don't know about the rest of you, but this should be totally worth it for us!

Pat & Patty,

Really appreciate the info about the I-68s. I am going to add that to my 'To Do' list. Will only take but maybe 20 - 30 minutes to drive up there and get it done.

Thanks much,

Ruth & Joe
