grand adventure

Well, some people think I spend entirely too much time on the C-Brats web site. I know this for a fact because yesterday morning Dotty, a person of relatively few words, looks up from her paper and states the following; "Mart, you spend entirely too much time on the C-Brats web site." We looked directly at each other and, without speaking (after 46 years, you, well , know), we got up hooked er up to the Volvo 240 and dumped her into Lake Washington (Lizzie, not Dotty). Another grand adventure. . The sky alternating blue and black, the fancy houses with steelhulled yachts and floatplanes, fodder for the mills of the gods running up and down I-405, I-90. and us right in the middle of it out therebobbing away with some ducks. We broke up our trip with a stop at Coulon Park for onion rings and milk shake. I made a point to tell the surly guy slaving away for minimum wage that "if there was a prize for the best onionrings west of the Mississipi, you would win it. " He just melted, I felt like a million bucks, Well, I'm back now , still spending too much time on this site. But one thing I"m sure of. Women are so damn smart.

Marty and Dot,

Sure do understand about these 'Grand Adventures' that occur at a moments notice. If the Bellingham area wasn't so full of debris right now, we'd have gone out today. Winds have finally died down. Newspaper headlines said that it was 82 mph at noon on Wednesday. Sure was interesting watching a tug and barge leaving Bellingham that day. Happy to be home and in our little nest.

Also, Congratulations! Forty-six years, eh! We'll have forty-five in just a couple of weeks. Another C-Brat couple share the same day with us (Jim and Joan of Wild Blue) with thirty-four years. Wow!

My grandaughter Lizzie taught me that "I was blind, but now I see". There's a lot of great stuff out there if I just stop and open my eyes. I used to know a guy who would say to me, "Marty, Marty, don't just do something, sit there. The slower you go, the more you'll see." You know, since you and I are often the only guardians of the C-Brats on the 4AM shift, we have lots of obligations until Joe comes on. See you on the 16th on Lake Washington, where it's always 72 and sunny..

Hay - I try and do my part, I just ahve a hard time keeping my eyes open after 2 am. Also looking forward to the 16trh of next month. See you guys there.

Dave-you certainly do do your part and it's genuinely appreciated. That photo of your boat out on the salt is a treasured part of my refrigerator door gallery. See you guys in person soon.

Joe, do you live near the harbor where you can see this stuff out your window? I've been thinkin about maybe expanding our downsizing(can you expand downsizing?) from boats to homes and looking for a condo on the water. We dont want to be too far from granddaughter Lizzie. Dotty's not saying anything but I can tell by the way she is peering over her glasses that she knows I'm up to no good..

2AM? What's 2AM? When you work the 4AM shift of the site you're suppossed to be in bed by 8:30. Man, you really have to spell it out for these youngsters.

Marty, We live about 2 miles east of I-5 but have a decent view (most days) of the water and several islands. I think I read in the B'Ham paper that there's a big push on to build condos downtown B'Ham near the water. Also a rumor that a new marina will be built with 400 slips. It's really growing here. Nice place to live.

Joe - actually, I think it is quite a bit more than a rumor...the Port of Bellingham already owns the former Georgia Pacific site, and the plans for the big marina there are pretty well advanced, I would think it falls in the "moral certainty" category rather than "rumor"!! And yes, B'ham is (A) growing, and (2) a GREAT place to live (we plan to retire a few miles north in Birch Bay of course).

Marty, I feasted on your intro. I feel what you and Dotty found again to be so sublimely exquisite. The liquid lake seems of love. And all you guys across America out there relishing the lakes you adore, enjoy!
:love

Marty, I don't mean to be a nag, but there's just one more thing. While my baserbrock wants to ask why you ordered onion rings instead of curly fries, my Larger Self appreciates the gift of confidence you gave the fry cook.

His reaction was a reciprocal gift, a manifestation of the kindness you are.

These am curley fries, and them is good! Yum...
