I'm looking at a 19 Angler for use on Lake Michigan. Would appreciate any feedback on suitability. Power? I'm looking for recommendations for trolling set-ups.
 
I'm wondering if any update's target the Great Lakes. BTW..still have the center council..ten years older and need an upgrade. It's re- power old faithful or C-Dory. I like the idea of being able to dodged the weather at my age.

I can't speak for the 19' but a 22' is perfection for Lake Superior. It can be handled by one guy and the hard top is fantastic for protection from the elements. You may want to include a 22' in your list of options.

Its rare I ever wished my boat was smaller.

Just something to consider.

Chris - thanks for the reply. I checked your pics out! Even hauls deer - and appears to be a fishing machine. Thought tow factor on the 19 - but doesn't appear to be that much weight difference. Power options? About the same I'm guessing.
I'd mostly run out of Racine, occasional Door County run.
I think it will be whatever comes up used between the 19 and 22. Both hulls would fill the bill.

I did enjoy your resurrection work - great job!
 
I use my 22 C-Dory almost exclusively on the Great Lakes. The only exception is on the Inland Waterway, Indian River chain. In ten seasons we have cruised or fished parts of all of the Great Lakes. Most of the hours have been spent on Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair cruising with friends or fishing for walleye and perch. I have been in some very rough water and have found my boat up to the challenge. I have owned many boats in my life, several bigger, but none have served me as well as my 22 Cruiser. Sometimes I wished the cockpit was a little larger for fishing as two active fishermen is about all it can handle. Three people is perfect as one can always be at the helm. However, there is always room for a fourth person in the cabin. All I can say is this will be probably be the last boat I own.

Thanks for the reply... if it can handle the Erie chop, I'm thinking that is a good endorsement. I'm looking at the specs again for aft measurements between the 19 and 22.
 
I've logged over 8000 miles on Lake Superior over the last 11 years and my 22 cruiser serves me very well; just expect to slow down in 3 foot and greater chop to 9 mph or less. I'm pretty sure the 19 is a 22 cruiser with the rear 3 feet of the cabin and associated hull removed including the bulkhead; I assume they will behave somewhat the same. The 22 angler is a nice option for some too.

Hoping this thread is still relevant:

I keep my boat in Washburn (Lake Superior) and there are several CD-22's there. I haven't seen one 19, and I think I've only seen 2 16's. The CD22 is probably THE perfect boat...period, for all around use and towing IMHO (and I have a hewescraft now)

I'm not an expert, but I though the 19 was known for being unbalanced because of it's heavy cabin to deck ratio?

I've had a 16 and two 22's and would join the crowd that advises going with a 22 cruiser (or angler) you just can't beat them.
