Great Republic getting a complete restoration

At the C-Dory factory in 1986. I am told the first owner was the C-Dory dealer in Superior, WI and I bought it off the second owner in Vermont. It has never seen salt water… but that is about to all change this spring. Great Republic has finally made it back home.

Where was C-Dory factory in 1986? Auburn WA?

I believe it was actually in Kent, WA, just south of Des Moines at
25028 Pacific Hwy S.

"Marben Marine" (Mark & Ben Toland) was the original builder.

I wonder if this boat was brought back into production with an outboard/s instead of the outdrive with some upgrades in terms making it in two configurations; one being built and rigged for fishing and the other rigged for cruising and being a great boat for the Great Loop. I wonder what the response would be in the current market?

Congrats! I'm jealous!

Does this boat have a delta pad on the keel at the transom??? If it did that would be very interesting! Are all pro anglers set up like this? Or is the bottom just flattened at the keel?

Chromer- the old fish box is still separate and forward of the old engined box. The newly reworked old engine box is where batteries and other mechanical/electrical equipment will go.

Kushtaka- the bottom is just flattened out at the keel.

Thanks all for looking. Hope to have some more pics/updates to share soon.

I can't figure out how to post a pic here. If someone wants to chime in on how to do this please do! In my restoration album is a new pic of the boat floating today. The new transom bracket is on and the Yamaha hanging! Bitter End put her in the water today to re-measure waterlines and now the boat is off to get the bottom sand blasted before new epoxy coat and bottom paint.[/img]

I just got off the phone with Jesse at Bitter End. He said the boat is back from the sand blasters, sitting on blocks in his shop and ready for painting and assembly. Jesse said he should have more good progress pictures to share next week. I got so excited talking to Jesse about the boat that I went ahead and bought my plane tickets for a week of shrimping in May!

You made an absolutely EXCELLENT choice picking Jesse at the Bitter End Boat Works! He did a major "detail job" on Daydream after it had been sitting outside uncovered for nine years plus many, many minor repairs. Jesse is our man, hardworking, knowledgeable and most important, a guy with real integrity. Tell him Pat and Patty with the CD25 Cruiser Daydream say "hey"!

i have added more pics to my restoration folder. 3 layers of epoxy coat and the bottom paint is finished. The bilges have been painted. We were going to cover up the wood pattern on the bulkhead, but when Jesse took the windows out, he found there was quite a bit of rot. So we elected to replace the bulkhead with new. It will get covered with formica when complete. By the end of the week it sounds like the no skid paint will be complete on the decks. I can't wait for May to get here! Please check out the new pics in my restoration folder.

Added a couple of pictures in my restoration album. The cockpit is finished with blue non-skid and the cabin bulkhead is finished. My new pot puller, My-T-Hauler, just showed up from LFS. It shouldn't have any problems pulling my shrimp pots!

Thanks for looking,
Travis

PS- I still can't figure out how to post a picture in a post if anyone could advise.

Looking really sharp. I love that dark blue cockpit sole.

There are instructions in the "help" Section. I try and always "preview" to be sure that the picture came up in the link. Also be sure that the address has an ending of one of the photo type of files, such as "jpeg".

On the Mac, you open the picture, then click option, then "image address", Go back to your post, hit "Img, then past in the image address, and hit "Img"

Jesse did much of the work on our Tomcat and now works on our Grand Banks. He is the real deal! I was in his shop Monday, and saw Great Republic sitting there. That thing has a massive cockpit!! What a fishing machine it will be. All of Jesse's work looks first rate. A very nice conversion.

Thanks Thataway for the instruction.

C-ness- I agree, Jesse has been great to work with, and yes, Great Republic has a very large dance floor for fishing. That was one of the main reasons I was drawn to the boat and why it was worth the extensive restoration to me.

I can't wait to show her off on the water!

Hello all,

Jesse at Bitterend has Great Republic coming to life. One thing always wanted on my other boats, but never had: a rear helm. I now have one! There will soon be a 7" Garmin at the rear, networked into the new Garmin with auto pilot and radar at the main helm.

I've uploaded 4 other pictures in my Great Republic restoration album. Thanks for looking and all the well wishes!
