Greetings from the Blue Rose

Hello C-Brats-
We have been enjoying your website for about 2 years and finally the time is right to introduce ourselves to the group. As part of planning for our retirement, we knew we wanted to cruise. But we were convinced a large cabin cruiser/trawler was going to be in our future until we started reading Bill and El’s travels aboard the Halcyon and realized that “bigger was not better” for us. Deciding the boat was going to be a C-Dory was easy when we met so many nice folks at the C-Brats gathering in Dubuque, Iowa last fall. Each owner welcomed us aboard and proudly showed us their boat. We knew right away that we wanted to be C-Brats too! After many months and several trips to the west coast looking at boats, we had a 2006 22’ Cruiser shipped to Minnesota. Now we are anxiously waiting for warmer weather to start outfitting. Thanks to the wealth of information shared by all of you on the C-Brats site, we are busy planning a list of modifications that will make her our own.

The boats new name is “Blue Rose”. We chose that name because of the legend of the blue rose. Real roses can be almost any color except blue. Finding a blue rose is similar to finding a pot of gold except, instead of being at the end of a rainbow; blue roses are often within our grasp… but we are just too busy to notice them. Large or small, blue roses are the unexpected moments that make your world a little brighter. You can keep them for yourself or even better; share with others. Whenever someone or something nice makes you stop and smile….you have touched one.

A big thank you goes to Les at EQ and Dr. Bob. Behind the scenes, both of them went out of their way to help us move forward.

Welcome J&J! You gotta get that vessel indoors in a heated space so that, when the ice goes out, you'll be ready to splash her!

Take some pictures as you go!

Congrats, and great name for your boat!

Hope to meet up on the water some time, some place!

You have truly understood the mystique of the C-Dory - it is as much about the people who will become your new best friends as it is about the boats themselves. It is (as to boats, not necessarily politics!) a shared value system about what is really important!

Your lives will change with the 22, a great choice for a boat. The exploring you can do with a 22 is unlimited, as Bill and El and Sam Landsman and others have shown us. The C-Brats are the best group ever as an added bonus, and you will find C-Brats are out there on the water, also looking for the ' Blue Rose'! Welcome! Roger Juntunen

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody! We'll get to work setting up a photo album. Unless I find warm storage somewhere, it's too cold to work on the boat and the the Mpls Boat Show isn't until the end of the month so to keep busy I have been working on creating a data base of future travel destinations (on land and sea) with links to websites for marinas, state parks, places of interest, etc. Maybe something like this could also be used to track place visited.

Welcome! Lovely name for a boat with an equally lovely meaning. From that I assume you are both also lovely people!

Roger, Sure they are lovely people  They picked us didn't they  and now they are on the inside :thup :thup

Socrateur, Really nice blue rose creation. Beautiful.

Jim and Jeanine, Welcome and what a neat name and story to go with. Best of wishes to you as you grow in the "family". You will not be disappointed, in either the Brats or the boat. I hope we get to cross wakes on down the path somewhere. Mean time, I'll keep the watching for the blue rose moments.
