Happy New C-dory Owner

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you all know that I bought a C-dory 22 Cruiser yesterday! She is a beauty - a 2003 with a 90 HP yamaha 4 stroke and an 8 HP Yamaha 2-stroke kicker. The boat spent most of its life in a shed and only has 130 hours on it. It is like new. I had the engines inspected and the mechanic said they are like new - barely broken in. I still need to go through the importation process, so I won't have her on the water for a bit, but it is nice to finally have a nice C-Dory in my driveway!

I was originally looking at a 25, but it seems that Tom bought that one! Congrats Tom. I think it was too big for me anyway at this point in my life. I can tow the 22 easily from my house to the boat ramp with my Xterra, and it is just a much simpler boat to maintain etc.

Anyway, I'm sure I will have lots of questions as I delve into the world of C-Dory fun.

Thank-you for the help from everyone when I was on my boat search. It really helped a lot. This site is extra-ordinary!

Glen

congratulations gentlemen on your new boats. Glen it's great to see more c dorys in BC. Did you get yours from Port Boathouse? George

 Hi Glen. Congrats on the purchase and I am sure she will bring you many hours of enjoyment. We live in Central Saanich and were a few days behind ya so whats the saying . You snooze you loose. Looks like a great boat and we are still looking and when it happens hopefully we will see you on the water. Cheers. Terry

Hi Glen, home port is Nanaimo but I've been on the road since late August with Kerri On and am in Sedona Az at the moment. Will be going to the Sacramento Delta after US thanksgiving then enroute to the Island. Enjoy your boat, they work great on the road and the water. George

Congrats Glen on the purchase of a 22 cruiser. You'll love it. We loved ours.
Rickdid say there was someone else interested in his 25 but he mentioned no names. We had been looking for a 25 for some time and they are not plentyfull in this local so we jumped on the local one after a failed buying trip to Washington State earlier this year.
If you know boats, at all, you'll appreciate the C Dory simplicity, seaworthyness and economy.
I'm sure you made the right choice.
Hope to see you on the water some day.

Cheers :beer

Congrats on the boat Glen. Another Islander Brat. Martin from Comox, Tom from Campbell River, and now you got one! all in the last couple months. Now we gotta get Shellback Terry from Victoria into a boat!

Hope to see you on the water.

Stefan

Hi Tom, Yes that was pretty funny. I had no idea it was you looking at the Duncan boat. I think it all worked out for the best. Who knows, maybe when you are done with the 25, I will be ready to move up. It sure is a nice boat.

Hi Stefan - thanks. It was looking at your boat that really sold us on the C-Dory.

Hope to see you both on the water.

Glen

Glen, Welcome and to the other new owners too. You are in a perfect place to have a C-Dory. I grew up at Sidney, and boated all around there from Sidney spit to Brentwood Bay, in an 8ft plywood dingy, starting when I was about 8 years old. I'm not that far away, and am looking forward to being back up there on the boat in the future.

Hope to get to cross wakes sometime.

It is really nice to see these boats getting into Canadian owners hands!! A truly great boat and wonderful c brats, great progress for the brand. Enjoy the boat. George

George and Harvey - Thanks for the kind words. It would be great to cross wakes - let me know if you are ever in the Brentwood Bay area!

Glen, Will do. And for your planning ahead info. There are some really good get togethers (CBGT's) coming up Friday Harbor is usually early May and worth the trip. It is usually the largest with 30 to 40 boats there. Another good one is the Sequim Bay CBGT, the second weekend of September. There will be several others around the area too, just keep an eye on the C-Brats site to keep track.

Welcome,

Harvey

congrats glen, you are in the best place on earth to wear out your new 22. we spend a lot of time up north on the island and discovery pass area. hope to see you out there.

Congratulations Glen,
You are in small boat heaven for sure. We had a CD22 on N. Pender Island, before we had to let her go. These waters are awesome. The new owners took NoddyBleu up to Nanaimo.
We imported our boat from the US (after a couple of years and a long trail from Wefings'.) It is not too onerous to import a boat, but if you have financing in the US make sure that you have their blessing (in writing) to bring her into Canada, or US Customs won't let her leave.
Good Luck.

Yeah, I think we live in a great place for cruising. I cruised the islands around here for many years with a 58 Monk Cruiser. It was a great boat for that time in my life, but now that I have kids, I like the safety and reliability of a C-Dory. Here are a few pictures of our maiden voyage with our new boat. It was my son's birthday - I think he looks pretty happy as captain of the ship!
