Have to go to the State Fair

Tiffany made a poster about horses to enter in the County Fair and won the Blue ribbon and the Champion ribbon. Now we gotta go all the way down to the State Fair in a couple weeks because they're sending the thing down there. Here's her and the poster:

Then yesterday, they called us and said she had won some "Special Secret Judges Award", so I had to skip fishing to take her back to the County Fair today. The award was for judges' favorite in the Educational Display class. Here she is on her way back to us after getting the award (which she didn't know she was getting):

And you would think that since I'm the guy who drove her to Seaside to get this poster laminated, they would at least let me accompany her on the Parade of Champions. But no, she had to do it herself:

Even though this will end up costing me two, maybe three days of fishing, I think it is worth it. The bad news is, she wants a real horse to enter next year.

Tiffany has been in 4H for just over a year, and has done remarkably well. She has ridden in a couple of horse shows using her 4H leader's horse, and done some presentations with the horse.

Between her and Jamie (softball, dancing, Brownies), the Wall of Fame in the hallway between their bedrooms is getting rapidly filled. These trophies and awards are little things to most people, but big things to them and amazing things to us. We're mighty proud of the girls and thankful to be able to have a part in helping them get so far. Their awards just add to our rewards.

Well, for some reason she is starting to lose interest in fishing. Too bad, too, because she is good at it. Just look at that form:

Now she is moving on to other things, I guess. She'll still go with me if I ask her to, and I take advantage of it while I can. When she is allowed to start dating at 27 years old, she probably won't want to go fishing at all.

Tiffany, that is so awesome! Hey, that poster is way cool, and you can be mighty proud, you can.

And might I add, little buddy, you sure are a show stopper with your blue ribbon smile, stylish black cowboy hat and green Washington sweat shirt. Keep on winnin', champ! And keep posting your posters.

There's stories about the folks in the old days using a horse to help land the big sturgeon. So maybe she can combine the two sports. Ya' just got to figure a way to get the horse on the boat  .

Mike --
There's an old saying amoung the horsey set "Give a girl a horse, and she'll never get into trouble." We believed it, got our girl a horse at about Tiffany's age, and she never gave us a bit of trouble -- quite the opposite -- so active in 4-H, county fairs, and horse shows she never had time for anything else. Way to go, Tiff -- and keep badgering Mike for 'your" horse.

We done been to the state fair. Tiff got another blue ribbon down there.

I rode the 285' straight up sling shot. The kids didn't want to for some reason.

Nice job, Tiffany! :thup

Tiffany?? What about grandpa?? I'm the guy who was shot 285' in the air. Tiff and Jamie were scaredy little girly girls and wouldn't even go on the thing.

Something about liking horses must give you dose of common sense too!

285' straight up? :? I wouldn't do that unless I was in an elevator in a 30 story building and a slow one at that! :D :D

Mike,

Now we know why you were not out on the river bouncing around with the rest of us. You were already sore from that ride and your breakfast was probably a little unsettled.

And Tiffany, you did good and you're smart staying off that ride.

Tiffany, Congratulations!!!!

Are you and Jamie coming up to the gathering at Sequim? It would be nice to see you both.
