Wondering if anyone knows off hand the Height, width and length of 22ft CD on Trailer? Specifically, and I don’t think it makes much difference, an 07 cruiser with 90hp Honda sitting on Easy-Loader trailer.
I’m looking into having one shipped up north as appose to pulling up the hwy and figured someone here would have the spec.

Thanks in advance for any help

Jay

Jay,

I was going to buy a used one from alaska and had the owner measure it for me. 27'9" long to tip of trailer tongue and 8'6" high on trailer. Of course it would depend on the trailer and i dont know what he had.

hope this helps

The Height will vary depending on what's on top. width and length
I just measured mine the other day, and it was 8'4" wide across the trailer, under the hull and measured at the wheel fenders. Length from tip of the tongue to the aft most part of the OB in the almost down position (about 20 degree tilt) was 28' Sorry, boat is at the shop this week, so can't do a OB up full, or Down, measurement just now.
Good luck,

Thanks for the feed back, going to have my father in-law measure her today; he’ll be the first to lay hands on our new CD. I’m purchasing the Midwatch :D from Stacy and Virginia Thomas over in Port Angeles Washington, my long search is over. We’ll be down there after Xmas for a few days and hope to take her out for cruise on the Sound. Stacy and Virginia have been great to deal with and we’re excited to be the new owner of a relatively new CD.
I’ve made a few inquires on shipping costs and pretty much resigned to the fact I’ll be pulling her up to Alaska in the spring.

Thanks,

Jay

Jay, not meaning to be trivial, but you mean CD for C-Dory, rather than SD for Sea-Dory, right?

In any case, congratulations on your new purchase. It sounds like a great boat!

Jay,
Congrats on the purchase of Midwatch. It's a nice looking CD Cruiser. I have seen it on the water out of Sequim Bay. You won't be Disappointed. When you are down over Christmas If you need anything give a holler, PA isn't that far away. Hope to get to meet somewhere on the water.

I am so ashamed; :embarrased my dyslexia often gets the best of me when I’m excited. Thank God I’m able to edit these posts or it would follow me to the grave. :crook

Before you decide to tow your boat north you may want to consider having her barged to Haines. Alaska Marine Lines will ship a 22 cruiser on a trailer for $1800 and change (vs almost $4000 to Anchorage) given the dimensions of 28' long, 8' wide, and 8.5' high.

Who knows how much a gallon of gas will cost next spring, but say the average price per gallon is $3.50 and your truck gets an average of 12 mgp, you are looking at spending nearly $1500 on gas alone. And, don't forget to consider the wear and tear on your vehicle, trailer, and new boat!

Congrats and I'll be looking for you in PWS!

I’ve thought about the Haines gig but that’s a 1550 mile round trip from Anchorage also. Fortunately I have an F250 Diesel that gets about 18mpg and figure about 14mpg with CD in tow, this is a conservative estimate.
So if I calculate fuel at 3.50 a gal and 16mpg I get:
1550 round trip to Haines + $1800 = $2140
4500 round trip to Seattle, = $985
And like Harvey say’s, I’d miss a soak at Laird Hot Springs.
The Midwatch’s (soon to named?) trailer has tandem axils with oil bath bearings so confidant it will make the trip with ease, and I’ll keep her in my sites the whole way.

My other thought was advertising on Craigslist offering to drive someone’s vehicle up the hwy for free if they allowed me to tow a 3500lb boat; would also offer to pay for some of the gas.

A trip from Alaska through BC to the lower 48 and then back towing your own CD = priceless. For everything else theres MasterCard. :cigar
