He's got the Right of Way?

Mark, what does Cream - Born Under A Bad Sign Music video have to do with going 65 knots on a sailboat? I like the music and hope you haven't fallen under the spell of the stuff you're trying to confiscate...

Good luck BTW, I agree with your efforts! Wrong video? There are lots of one that show a big CAT flipping, America's Cup this year for example.

Jim, you don't need a microwave...You'll be back in to put it on the barbie in a few...

Thanks for posting that, Charlie. I didn't click on that link at first, but I DO like Cream. 1968. It was a good year. I was playing that song in a rock 'n roll band. Joan and I went out on our first date... I was 5, she was 3 1/2. 8)

OK, nothing to do with that sailboat. But, I was definitely influenced by Clapton.

That's why people buy Bugattis. Not very practical or cheap, but fun. Unfortunately, those are both way out of my price range.

And just for conversation sake, the sailboat in question will have to avoid you when overtaking... the overtaking vessel (in this case, the sailboat) is the give-way vessel, even when overtaking a powered vessel (us).

We ran into that situation when sailing our trimaran.

But, suppose you we're doing 25 knots, in a crossing situation, and you were the "stand on" vessel? I guess the "Lighthouse Rule" would apply... The one that says, "I KNOW YOU HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY, BUT I'M A LIGHTHOUSE DAMMIT".

And yes, I know there's another rule that Does apply!

Happy Saturday..

 I mean I love Cream and am a huge Clapton fan, but that link was for something else. :|

Would I own something that fast? hell yes. You only know my fishing side. I never rode a bike , drove a car or piloted a boat that goes too fast. I have always wanted to go faster, just cant afford to.

Now Tom and others do have me looking at the Robotic (quadra or Hecta or even Octicopters)-- But on the other hand, this "sailboat" is an "not under command vessel". First note that there are a number of vessels anchored around the venue. I suspect that this was publicized. There are safety and stake boats. Once the rudder is lifted--(to decrease drag), the steering is only by sheeting the sail, and wind shifts = not under control... The "boat" is riding on the foils.

At one point I was going to do the "Around the World race"--but I would not own a "boat" like this foil specialized vessel....

All for the sake of argument.

Wonder if those expensive toys float

With my propensity for boo boos, I'd find out quickly :cry :thup :?:
