Hi-def radar

Just downloaded the NOAA hi- def radar app for the iPad. Nice to be able to see the weather fronts as they are moving in! Better than using my own radar.

I too have the NOOA radar app. I like that it gives updated images every 5 minutes. No forecast, but that's not what I want the app for. I like seeing what's going on now. For a buck 99 it gets a spot on my Ipad.

H

Which app are we talking about?

I see a NOAA Radar US - HD

and also a NOAA hi-def radar.

The latter sounds like exactly like what one of you mentioned, but they're both $1.99 and there's room for a little ambiguity so I thought I'd ask.

Are they really any better than just looking at NOAA's site?

Thanks,

-Jeff

Yes , it's the latter app. I've not used the NOAA web site so I cannot comment on any value added. I do like, however, having a dedicated app that gets me the radar image I want. I just checked the radar centered on Bellingham and the storm we are having paints a vivid picture on radar!

My Cast for android is another good radar app with detailed mapping and viewing options for a few dollars. worth it to me after seeing the free options...

I use the weather bug app or the Radar Now App, both are free. could one of you look at those and tell me if the noaa app is better or not? If is I will get it but I hate spending even the $1.5 for something I dont like.

Like Tom, I have been using the Radar Now app. It was my go-to weather check while driving the cruise boats the last two summers, not being able to see what was coming at us from the other side of the mountains.

Someone want to post a review of that vs. NOAA?

I just loaded and checked Radar Now and Weather Bug and the bug is pretty darn good. Radar now still has horribly crude mapping/radar detail so I wouldn't use that. The My Cast I am using has only a couple of nearly useless additional features to the current version of the bug so I would just use that. The bug is much improved from the last time I checked.
