Hi Folks.. Just purchased a 22 cruiser. Power is a 93 Honda 90. For flushing at the end of a boating day, one way is to install a hose into the rear of the engine via a small bass fitting that screws into the back of the engine via an access hole. After flushing the engine, the hose gets removed, the brass fitting is removed. Question. What is anything goes into the hole left by removing the brass fittings. Thanks ! Paul Nelson. New Orleans.
 
There should be a flat plastic cover maybe? Not sure about a 1993, but other carbureted bf 90s have a little cover. I don't think you need to have it on.
 
Congrats on the new boat! How did you determine your Honda 90 is a '93? Pretty sure it is newer than that since the BF90 wasn't first available until at least 95. In 93 the largest Honda available was still the BF45. Most outboard makers didn't have a 90 hp class 4 stroke until the late 90s (1999 for Merc, Yamaha), Honda beat them all by a few years but not in 93, at least not on the market yet.

Plastic cover is how mine is set up. If you use the hose conection beware that it is just a flush conection and the engine is not to be run when being flushed. If you use ear muffs and flush you can run the engine. This is the information I was given from the repair shop when I asked about proper flushing, they said that when you use the brass fitting you bypass the water pump so do not run the engine or you could damage the impellers.
