My new 22" cruiser's horn just stopped working. It had croaked a few times before it stopped completely, but now it is dead dead dead.

Ant suggestions as to what to do or what the problem is? Electrical? Corrosion?

If it croaked a bit I bet it's still getting power, probably just a dead/corroded horn. I have not checked the price, but I think they are pretty cheap and you want as loud a horn as you can get.
 
If the fuse isn't burnt out the problem is likely a defective horn if your boat is that new. It may still be under warranty.

On the other hand, you could install this horn as a replacement. :shock: :shock: :shock:

Quick and easy thing, if you haven't already done it, is to check up under the eyebrow and tug on all the crimped connections under there. I had a problem a few years ago with an intermittent anchor light and finally found a crimp connection under the eyebrow where the factory had used a 10-12ga connector for a 16ga wire and it didn't hold very well.

Ha ha ha! That horn is hilarious! Someone needs to install it on the C-16! They would have aircraft carriers moving out of the way for that horn!

The sales video is basically a series of practical jokes, scaring people half to death but man that is a horn!
 
I would at least trouble shoot the problem. Use a volt meter to see if there is power to the horn. They are a relitatively simple device. It is very possiable that corrosion has reduced the voltage to the point that the contacts will not activate the diaphragm. Check the wiring, You may be able to take the horn apart, loosen up the diaphragm and then put corrosion block on the parts.

I wash the horn down after salt water spray gets on it. Spray with Corrosion block afterward.

I doubt that it is under warantee, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
 
I have a train horn on my pickup truck. Powered by the air compressor from my PacBrake.
It really gets the cell phoners/text messagers out of the way in a hurry. :mrgreen:
 
dammit I had my ear phones on here at work. I cant hear anything now and my eyes are a little fuzzy. give a guy a warning next time. :shock:
