how to shine brass?

I have a lot of brass deck items that are very tarnished. I would like to bring them back to their original shine. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

That is, assuming it's really brass and not bronze.

I still use Brasso. There are some similar products, but I don't know of any short cut.

Wouldn't you Think after all these years a solvent of some sort would be invented to rinse off the tarnish.

Patrick, that's why I bought a gold anodized belt buckle. No more polishing. BTW, I still wear it. The best article of uniform ever!

Have not tried it but there's a dip solution for sterling silver that removes tarnish, wonder if that would work?

I've used Tarn-X with some luck, but for really tarnished brass I use a dilluted solution of HCL, then clean it up with Brasso.

I am thinking maybe tarnish is acceptable. I don't want to spend a lot of time polishing when I should be boating!!!
