Hull number question

Is hull number DOR22294B787 the new or old hull design? What is the difference between the new hull and the old hull in terms of ride, stability, and economy of operation?

Thanks for your insights.

Jim

She's a 1987 (last two digits)

Others would be better able to answer the question about the ride. I've never been in a pre '87 (flat bottom) hull.

Welcome!

Rick

Old hull was pre 1986. The old hull was a true dory hull, flat bottom, hard chine with two skegs. The new hull is a rounded chine, sharper cut in the bow so she will not pound and will cut the water better. The new hull also has a wider beam on the transom so it could hold four stroke engines which are heaver.

I have a 1983, and when I added a four stroke engine, I had to raise the waterline about 3 inches. though she pounds at higher speed, she is very seaworthy.

Which is better. I love my boat, so the choice is yours.

DOR22294B787

is C-Dory (DOR)

22 model (22)

Hull number 294 (294)

Built in:

February (B) second month of year

7th day of month (7)

1987 (87)

And is a modern Cruiser (long cabin), or Angler (short cabin), not a "Classic".

My hull is DOR22286A787, and is one of the earliest 22 modern style Cruisers.

Joe.

I peg you as more of a Rockford era guy, Peter, and probably re-runs at that, rather than Maverick (never missed it!), which no doubt dates me...
