somewhere alongside a Texas highway, there's probably a guy in a Hawian flowery shirt wrenching on a BMW hope all is well on Joel's adventure, sure sounds like he's having a good time
HOME !!! And what a trip.....a few problems... like the front brake falling off... only two blocks from a Pep Boys in Florida.... some washers and a metric nut cured that "sorta".. still makes funny noises... but what the heck..I'll fix it now that I am home....lost the clutch every hundred miles or so... I would pull it in and nothing....do an adjustment and it would be good for about 100 miles, then gone...and I was running out of adjusting bolt...about half way home it just quit...no idea what caused it or why it quit but after Alabama I diden't need any more adjustments......somewhere in Texas it started running on one cylinder... I adjusted the points several times...nope... so on a off-ramp I did a compression test...dead on one hole... did a "guesstamate" valve adjustment and that seemed to work so on I went....
I visited lots of fun places and ate lots of fun food... did several cave tours...
Caves in Sonora Texas and Carlsbad Caverns....had a super time playing with the big lizards in the swamp at Okefenokee Swamp Park....I was impressed at how well that 6hp, Merc did after all the abuse I gave it...hitting everything ....the water is like dark tea....and I am sure I made a 3" prop into a 2" prop... but had a great time doing it... took some super alagator pictures...
Overall it was a super fun trip... well worth the price of the bike and all that great camping out... some nights I had to stay in motels due to rain, but it was one of those trips ya always dream about...what fun...
Only the last day my bottom got sore... one day I did 650 miles...and after that I was sorta tender....(monkey butt) The bike has a small tank so every 100 miles or so I had to stop, that helped... course I ate at every cheesey low life looking eatery I saw... so it was good to get home to regular chow.... Sue had prime rib last night... so I am again in good spirits...
And Yes I did wear one of those shirts over my leathers....for good luck...or to keep the traffic back..
