Ice breaker Dory in VA

We finally got our 22' Dory back to NC from Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. We bought the boat in July last year in upstate NY. After many years in a Nimble Nomad, we came back to the C dory. We put the boat in at the lake for sea trials with plans to bring it back to NC for a yard period. On a return trip back to the lake a local resident ran a stop sign and hit us in the side. We lost control, left the road, and ended upside down in a cow pasture (this was only 2 miles from the boat). Can you believe we only had minor injuries? But as a result of the accident, our schedule slipped and then the weather failed to cooperate with a pull out. It seemed every weekend we had rain or cold or snow or the holidays.
Finally today the weather was nice-56 degrees after weeks of cold and snow. Karen drove the boat across the lake to the public landing and I took the truck to meet her. She had to break thru thin ice on sections of the lake on the trip over. No damage to the hull or finish. We easily loaded up and headed back to NC. Now I will have time to install all the items I purchased months ago from Defender. The final items will be a bimini and curtains. Also-we have decided on the name "POMPANO".
Take care,
NCPete

That was quite an adventure! It's good to hear you didn't get hurt too badly. Things are clicking into place now that you have the boat home.

Keep us up to date on how it's going.
