Incredible photos of Valkyrie!

Hi Brats,

Coming back from fishing today, I let Marcia off at a dock near an old bridge here in the Keys so she could take some high angle shots of Valkyrie as I ran near and under the bridge. The results are simply incredible and the credit goes to my wife. I just ran the boat like I stole it! Check them out on the last page of our album. Hope that you enjoy them.

Regards,

Nick

I love the shot entitled "Valkyrie in paradise". First it looks beautiful, and second, it points out the size of the C-Dory.

When we're anchored near a couple of 40' boats and we start talking to them, the discussion (at one point or another,) gets to how we got there. And there you are in paradise.

BTY, enjoyed your pictures of the Eire Canal.

Great photos!

I was checking out your album and went from the frozen "country cabin" to "Valkyrie in paradise".

A study in contrasts.

Great pictures. Someone should organize a PNW photo shoot sometime. Deception Pass would be a perfect location, and it's fun to play around in the current as well.

I would love to help with this sometime too. There are some great spots here in the PNW with exciting arenas, (Hurricane Ridge, Mt Baker, Dungeness Spit Light House, Lime Kiln LH, Seattle skyline, and tons more). We have done some reasonable shots, mostly of other boats. (hard to get good shots of your own boat very often), but there are a few places that it works. Deception is a fun place but the angle is pretty steep so you kind of look like a watermelon seed. The point off John Wayne Marine provides a great angle, as does the walkway out to the dock at Sequim Bay State Park.

Then back to Nick's fine thread and great pic's for the regular programing.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone!

Boris, RE: Valkyrie in Paradise photo. We were asked the same questions that you mentioned. We love it when the "big boys" ask those type of questions. The real fun ones to answer are when fuel consumption and draft come up!

Pete, RE: Our frozen country cabin. The very contrast that you mentioned between that sub-album and "Valkyrie in Paradise" is why we are HERE! Marcia, my SC-born wife, loves the cold and snow, but she didn't flinch when I suggested that she fly down here for a few weeks.

Mike, Thanks for the "paradise" suggestion using your favorite palm trees. We had planned on using the bridge for some running shots, but your suggestion really worked out well.

Roger, RE: fish photos. There are some in our FL Keys sub-album, but none of the big, nasty, sexy predatory fish that fishers come to bag in the Keys. We went out every day and had fish for dinner every night, but nothing really in size or quantity. We fished the back country, the bridges (from Valkyrie), the patch reefs, the deep drops to 300 feet and trolled the Gulf Stream. Water temps are in the upper 60's and we are told that tuna, dolphin, cobia and others need temps in the mid to upper 70's to move in closer to shore.

Strange thing, though. At every bait shop we heard, "Hey, fishing's great!
HERE"S exactly what you need to really bring them in!"

When we were staying at the Bahia Honda SP Marina we ran into professional guides and their clients every day and often talked to them for advice and to see how they did for the day. There were times when they had a few nice mackeral and other times when we came back with nice yellowtail and trigger fish and they got skunked. It seesm to be a crap shoot this time of year due to the extended cold weather that they had the last few months. I'll try to post other pics later today.

I'll try to post a bit more of our travels later today in our
"Anchor Light" thread.

Best wishes,

Nick and Marcia

hey nick,
just checked out your post. great pictures of the boat, but awesome pictures of the water. i'll try to duplicated those pictures, today on the ohio river, although it's just under flood stage, whole trees are floating down the channel and the mrs. doesn't want to stand on the bow for the picture taking ceremony. go figure!
i am actually sitting at the kitchen table enjoying a well brewed cup of coffee, looking out over lake cumberland. have a great day.
best regards

Hi Nick,

Well I just finished applying the third coat of mud to my drywall and I thought I would check in to C-Brats. What do I see but the updates to your Key West album. Blue skies, blue water, sun, and fish verses dust, dirt, and mess. What is wrong with this picture other than I really must be missing the boat? Enjoy, and keep the photos coming.

Best regards,
