Inside Passage

Some time ago I asked if there was printed information on refueling stops, food, slips, customs, etc. in the Inside Passage from Bellingham to Skagway and someone on the C-Brats forum listed a web site where that information can be downloaded. Of all of the information I've downloaded, I'm either misplaced the website address or accidently deleted it from my computer. Would someone please list the web site again? I promise I'll take better care of the information next time. Thanks, Jim

Hi Larry, thanks for the links to the Inside Passage information. I've traveled both directions through the passage on the Columbia and Radiance of the Seas on a cruise and that's what got me interested in making the trip in a C-Dory. Big difference I know, but, I still have a wonderful spirit of adventure stirring in me and I lose many hours of sleep thinking about the trip. Man, that has to be fun!!! :D Jim

And it'll be a better trip on the C-Dory. We took a lot of side trips, and were in some awesome anchorages, watching the cruise ships go by. Be sure you get a guide book that shows the anchorages. They're absolutely beautiful.

Went into some small town that were kinda isolated in the winter, met a lot of nice folks who don't get involved with cruise ships.

Bought a lot of diesel, and they sell gas too, at the Indian reservations. They all were friendly, helped us.

It'll be a great trip.

Jim, I'm sitting in Auke Bay right now in our C-Dory 25. We put in in Skagway about a month ago and have been to Glacier Bay for three days, Hoonah, Haines, Sitka, Juneau, and many secluded coves. Sitka was our favorite town, It's all great. Alaskans seem to have a different outlook on life. I especially have enjoyed being in the midst of the many commercial fishing boats at dock.

We're headed back to Skagway in a couple of days to put the boat back on the trailer and use it as a camper in Denali. Then we will head back to the water for a while around Valdez or Seward.

The great thing about the C-Dory is the fact that we can do both sea and land. There are a lot of beautiful and large boats up here, but they can't go wherever you decide to go when you decide.

Good luck on your adventure. If you want any specifics, send me a pm

Tom

Tom, Hope you post some photos and tell us more about this trip your on. Many here would love to hear and see a more detailed account.

Sounds like we're going to miss you in Skagway by about a week. Would have loved to swap stories with you about the area you've been cruising.

Hi Boris, thanks for your input on thr trip up the Inside. You're right, I think a good guide book is in order before starting a trip as well as the information the "Brats" that have made the trip, gave me.

Tom, I sure envy your being able to visit some of my favorite places. I love Skagway. We visited it in 2002 before it got so commercialized and I didn't want to leave to come back South. If you are still around Icy Strrait Point and the little resturant close to the old cannery in Hoonah, please eat a Dungeness Crab for me! Don't know if the spelling is correct or not, but the crab is outstanding there. :D It was 94 degrees here yesterday with a humiture of 105 and anywhere around your area sounds wonderful to me. I'll echo Jays request; it would be great to see pictures from your trip if you have time to post them. I hope you continue to have a great trip. Thanks, Jim
