Interesting, but not as fun as a C-Dory

And all I ever wanted was a CD-22 with radar, GPS plotter/depth finder, compass, a camper canvas, 90 HP 4 stroke, 15 HP 4 stroke kicker, and fuel tanks to run around 250 miles, loaded. Am I asking too little????? :D Jim

$60K for a ballister, $40K for shower heads/faucets, white stingray hides covering the walls, alligator skins and Kudu horns...and the boat's name is "A". Boy, that guy thinks a lot about himself......

.....or maybe "A" stands for "as*$#le".

Ridiculous.

Wait 'till you see... B.

Just because someone can afford to spend a gazillion bucks on a boat doesn't mean he isn't down to earth... hahahahahahahahahahaha! I was almost able to keep a straight face while typing that.

Just wait... when I hit the lottery, I am gonna do a Pimp My Ride on Wild Blue like you won't believe... I wonder if they can dye those stingray hides blue? 8)

Anything worth doing is worth doing to excess. :wink

Best wishes,
Jim

Saw that video earlier today, and two things struck me about it.

1) The only thing I found intriguing, was the hidden "fun room." But, that would only hold my interest for about 3 minutes. On a good day.

2) For all the millions/billions this guy has, there's zero doubt he's a jerk. For all the excess this monstrosity has...did you see that pathetic patch of grass he had for his dog?

The ship was designed by Starck who designed my favorite PC mouse, the Starck Mouse
I bought 2 and the wires are wearing thin

Bill. You are right about the dog park, very cheesy. At the Nanaimo CBGT last year, we saw a 75 footer with a bigger lawn and a polished Fire hydrant. Gotta take care of those boat pooches!

The only things missing are some vertical launch tubes and a couple of 76mm guns! Bet that thing has a very low radar signature too!

My dog wouldn't care for it but he might like to meet that little white dog! :love :dog

30% of net worth spent on a depreciating asset! the only thing missing on this yacht, is me and all my c-brat friends!

Which reminds me of the saying: "I spent 90% of my inheritance on boats, booze, and wild women... and the rest I just wasted."

I wager that the average boater after seeing this nautical tribute to conspicuous spending fantasizes a sub will slip a nuke into it.

 I'm I the only warped one who thought something sexual when they read this?

While the money spent on this boat may seem like a waste or just plain extravagance, don't forget the many people who earned their living by building and maintaining this boat.

The money spent to build this boat was not burned or flushed, it went to the craftsmen, suppliers, designers, wholesalers, dock builders, shipyards and the companies that supply the materials.

Likewise, it costs a bundle to maintain and operate this boat (ship?). It is far better for the ultra wealthy to spent their money on mega yachts that just hoard the gold like Scrooge McDuck in his counting room!

We small boat owners do the same thing on a much smaller scale, by buying the boat, maintaining the boat, buying accessories, boat trailers, trailer tires, etc.

Keep your favorite boat dealer, equipment supplier, etc. in business----Buy something from them!

Local Boy - Was my one liner a Freudian slip? Perhaps, but then a Freudian slip by definition must be from the unconscious part of one's mind. Ships, torpedos, etc., good Freudian symbols.

If I remember the WSJ article, it cost about 20 million a year to run this ship. Unfortunately many of the companies who made parts went into bankrupty during the construction. So Although it did creat jobs--I suspect that many of those who were empolyed are now not employed. If anyone is interested, I think I still have the article and can list thos comanies which went under.

Of course the first thing that comes to my mide, is how well will this 38 year old billionaire will fare down the line. The Russian neuvo riche have a high moretality rate.

Of course the guy who owns this is a jerk: he's Russian oligarch after all. Not a people known for tact and courtesy.

On the other hand it's great to see the super-rich doing things like this. The same with those who spend millions to get a classic car onto the lawn at Pebble Beach, or to restore an old wooden J-boat for regattas. We all get to enjoy seeing them go by and they employ thousands of true craftsmen and women.

I am sure the same sort of carping went on when Leonardo was hired to paint the Mona Lisa or when the King of Bavaria commissioned Mozart to write a symphony for him. These things will live on long after the original owner is gone and will eventually become objects of world heritage.
