Introducing the Liveaboard Sleep Center!!!

Harvey, does your "1800 Better Sleep" include .... "for a really great night's sleep, avoid riding the elevator and casually stroll up the staircase of the Columbia Tower to the top floor".... .....if it doesn't, add it in and change it to "1801 Better Sleep".....

"Sea Shift"

Dave, I've never been up there, (has to do with altophobia  ) Just wondering if there is a nap station along side the bottle change station for those who would tire out prior to the end of the trek? BTW, that Scot Pak with the mask adjusted just right might work as a substitute CPAP

Might need a bit of Ibuprofen for the morning after.

Must be quite a view from up there. WOW, I read you rapelled from up there. That sent enough chill down my back to turn me into a popsicle.

I was interested in the comment about rappelling also. From how far up did you rappel? It seems like you'd need a pretty long rope to rappel the entire distance but you definitely don't want to get started with a rope that's too short.

Hi Harvey,
PS Your services can improve peoples' health :

Only on c-brats do you find someone able to be grammatically correct with a plural-possessive...over on The Hull Truth, nobody knows the difference between "there", "their", or "they're", or even the difference between "to", and "too"...

I finished seventh-grade North of the Mason-Dixon line...you apparently did, to....

(yes, that should read "too", of course...just a quiz to see how well you read and detect grammar errors...)

Getting back to your book, wouldn't it just be a few keystrokes to make it available via print-on-demand with someplace like lulu.com, et al?

I would love to gift your book, but my 14-year-old Canon laser printer is not up to the task of turning it into hardcopy for a recipient who would be reading it by the light from an oil lamp...

Hi Karl,

After your last post, I went to work on it. The formatting for print is different from what is necessary for an eBook. I have a proof in the works and will let you know when it's ready for ordering. I've had quite a few requests for the printed version, but your post spurred me on. My thanks for your interest.

Best wishes,
Jim

As a boater, I think this is great. As a comic, I think this is great.

I think it takes a boater, or more specifically a cruiser, to really get the humor in all this. Thanks for the kind words. If this whole boat bum, seasonal captain, struggling author, retired guy thing doesn't work out for me, maybe I can write some material for you? I always thought being a stand-up would be an interesting way to make a living. Especially considering my mis-spent youth when I regularly had teachers ask, "What are you, a comedian?" 8)

Best wishes,
Jim

I think the only difference between everyone in the world and a stand up comic is the willingness to emberrass yourself. A good friend of mine who is a comic said one night, "how cool is this, we are authors but we can publish ourselves anytime we want". Very true, we can write whatever we want, and publish it at an open mic. anytime. You just need to be ok with the fact that people will not always think it's as funny as you do. Everyone is funny, those that choose to publish it are comedians. A real inspiration for me is Patric McManus, do you know him, I bet you would like his stuff. I assume many C-brats would, if they don't already.

Jim,

Looking forward to the Print version tooo, (Just checking to see if Karl is checking my spelling to  ) I have not looked into this but is there a way to purchase the Kindal version as a gift for someone who has a Kindal already? Just curious. Thanks Great to see you writhing here, always.

BTW, the sleeping on a bed that moves thing. Some say that is a carry over back to when we were in the womb. Me, I think it is a choice, concious or otherwise, that we are where we are comfortable and contented, safe and can really relax.

Roger, in order to not further "hi-jack" this thread, I have answered this question for you on the "2011 Fire Fighter Stair Climb" thread.

Hi Harvey,

Currently, Cat On A Leash is available through all the eBook retailers... except Amazon. The distributor, Smashwords, has been working with Amazon regarding the formatting and distribution and seems to think it will be coming soon. In the meantime, the only way to "gift" the book on a Kindle is to download a .mobi version (the format the Kindle uses) and download it to the Kindle from a computer. I've talked with other Kindle owners who weren't aware of this way to load a book, since they're used to "purchase, click, and it's there." It's also an easy way to get other material, such as PDF files, on the Kindle.

Thanks for the interest and support, Harvey.

Best wishes,
Jim

Wow, I turn my back and you guys go off in odd directions. But I like it. Does it mean I can continue enjoying the parts of boating I love, and sell the boat so I don't have the things I less like, such as buying gas?

Come to think of it, actually I am beached at the moment. I sold the only vehicle, my truck, that can pull the boat. Until I get another, or kidnap a friend with a tow vehicle, i'm high and dry, or dry anyway. So LSC sounds pretty good to me.
