Tried it on boat in driveway,its 400 watt . unplugged shore power,it ran a computer,I-Pad ,jet pack ,small radio. 2 items at a time. When I tried coffee pot it beeped overload,so I took alligator clips hooked direct to battery both batterys on still too much draw.If you were running 150 Yamaha would you be able to run more items? Or do you need shore power or generator? Guess inverter is very limited phone charging ect?
 
The issue is how many amps your coffee maker draws... apparently more than the inverter can handle. A 400 watt inverter will handle small stuff like phone and computer recharging, perhaps a TV; but you would need something along the lines of a 2000 or 2500 watt inverter to handle the coffee maker, microwave, hair dryer, etc (one at a time).

You can run the engine to put more charging into the batteries, but the limitation is how much a small inverter can output.
 
Our coffee maker draws 900 watts, I am sure that some others are a little bit less, and many are up to 1200. To be sure, it is best to get an inverter of at least 1500 watts.

Buy a Kil-o Watt meter. They measrure amps, watts, hz, total watts/time, and voltage. You plug the Kil-o-Watt into the 110 volt plug, and then the item you are measuring into the Kil-o-Watt. I used mine to day to determine what my total new video security system draws, to determine what size APC I need.
