Is C-Dory still in business?

I'm interested in buying a new 23 Venture, tried to contact the dealer
listed for my area, and what came up was a sign that C-Dory is under
new ownership. That was it.

Are they still making them?

Can you order one still?

What's up?

Thanks,
Dan

hi Dan whereabouts are you? C Dory's are definately being built. really nice ones. Let us know where you are, we'll get you a dealer. George

Thanks for the reply.

I'm in the San Diego area. Catalina Yachts is listed, up in the Los Angeles
area, they have a sign, I reread it, that C-Dory is under new ownership and
is starting up production. I guess you are saying they are back up and
running now.

Very Good.

Do you have any idea what the approximate wait is for ordering a 23 Venture?

Thank you,
Dan

Dan,

Let me reassure you that we are most definitely still in business and we will gladly build you a 23' Venture, please give me a call at 360-303-6315 to discuss further.

Sincerely,

Scott Boysen

And we're in the San Diego area. We think C-Dory is a great boat for SoCal and hope you join the family. Great for cruising to the islands, nice fishing. Marcy & Kent on MarciaJane (kmcclish) has a 23 Venture up in Santa Maria.

I'm glad to hear that Catalina is still a dealer, but that sign must cause some confusion. As you can read above, C-Dory is still in production.

Give us a call if we can help you. If you want to see how a C-Dory cruises, try our web site: Journey On Cruises The first page has all our cruises in Journey On, just select the one that interests you. Also, here are some pictures of Catalina last year: 2010 Catalina Adventure.

As others have said C-Dory's are definately being built. The factory had an openhouse today, and boats are definately being built to a very high standard and by a great group of people.

I was impressed by the build quality, I have a 2007 22 cruiser that I dropped off for service also. Their attention to detail is second to none and best of all they listen to their customers.

Good luck on the purchase.

Thanks everyone.

I'm going to get one, probably put my order in around the end of
April, that's when my money will arrive, long story, just settled a
big case against the government. Retirement time.

Thanks Again,

Dan

Let me restate that, I will order one if I can get one without a
Thru Hull. I see they have wash down pump as standard equipment,
if that is sea water, thru hull, I wouldn't get one.

I'll be finding out in a couple weeks.

Later,

Dan

Dan,

I see you're interested in the 23 Venture which is a fine boat. Depending on how many boats you've owned before and what your specific application is, it might be useful for you to describe the uses you see for the boat to get some advice pre-order. I know that I would have done many things differently prior to buying the 22 I used to own if I had asked the right questions to the group here.

We have a 23 Venture on its way to sunny Florida as we speak . Looking forward to many more Triton built C Dorys in the future!
Marc

Welcome. You will love the 23. I am retiring next month, and we are immediately leaving on the Great Loop, a circumnavigation of the Eastern half of the US.

We have the cc-23 ( 06 ) same hull as the venture 23 it has been a great boat so far . We have the f-115 with 15 pitch prop . If I was buying new I would get a little more hp maybe 135-150 not for the speed but for better economy and better handling with bigger prop size. Maybe even twin 50-70 hp ? You will love the economy We get 4.3-5mpg overall . I also would get the butane stove instead of wallas some of the options to consider.
1 full camper canvas
2 butane stove
3windlass 700 or above
4gps chartplotter D/S
5 radar?
6fresh water washdown from fresh H2O supply

We will be rigging the 23 thats arriving tommorow with twin T 60 Yamahas [bigfoots] . It will be interesting to see how she handles with those motors .

Marc,

That sounds like a great combo for the 23, Single vs Twin argument notwithstanding. We'll be interested in hearing the results. Twin 75s sounds even better! No substitute for horsepower

The big foot 60 engines have the lower unit of 90-115 hp so much better control at marina etc . So the only difference will be top end twin 60 vs 75 . The 23 hull sweet spot is around 22-28 mph so I think the 60's will make this a great set up . Marc keep up the good work and let us know how the 60's turn out .

Hi Dan,

We bought our 23' C-Dory Venture from Sportscraft Marina near Portland, Oregon in 2008. There are some things that I would do differently as the many add ons were installed, but overall we are very happy with the boat. The best thing I did was to have an aft steering station installed.

You'll love the ride! I live in Santa Maria and would be happy to share any information about the boat we can. I wonder if Triton is equipping the boat with the interior upholstery? It looks like you have your choice. I would definitely have that installed.

I agree with you about this boat being perfect for California. My last boat was a 23' Wellcraft center console when I lived in San Clemente (Sunny Southern California). We were always cold and wet!

If I can help, let me know AND use the Search function on this site to get some great information from some very knowledgeable folks.
