I just ordered a new Flojet 4303-144 Washdown pump. I forgot to drain mine last fall, and the housing cracked when it froze. Somebody leaned on the switch the other day, and accidentally turned it on, and I didn't realize it right away. With the crack in the housing, it started to fill up the cockpit with water. I was a bit panicky before I found the source of the leak and turned it off. I figured a note for other newbies might help.
Wow! Is it hard for an old man like me to crawl under the back deck to get the old one out! Also, has anyone tried installing a flip-up housing over the switch to prevent it from accidentally being turned on? The factory putting the switch out where it's so easy to lean on when you're putting a mooring line on the aft cleat wasn't the brightest idea, either.
