Johns Sporting Goods Everert Washington

They're great! I got my Ace line puller from them among other things, the best price I could find anywhere online.

Unfortunately I had to send it to my parents in AZ to avoid sales tax, living just down the road from John's

John is a good guy and his prices are ok. His web site is a great tool for the angler. I love his maps and videos. I have down loaded a lot of the maps to my phone so I have them when I am out fishing.

This is my first purchase of a downrigger. I hear good things about Scotty and cannon, alot of the members here have used them for years and would have practical expierence to better tell you what pros and cons they have.

A discussion of which downrigger is best could become another twins vs. single thread. :-)

I prefer Scotty electrics because it's what I've used the most, and currently own. Here in the PNW they're almost the de facto downrigger of choice. Some of that is simply because they're made in Sidney, BC, versus Cannon in WI and Penn in NJ.

I think Scotty are very affordable, easy to operate and maintain, and come with a lifetime warranty. I can even have them tuned and checked for free each year by a local dealer. Scotty also has a lot of accessories, and with a little ingenuity, the mount can serve muliple purposes when not using the downrigger.

Cannons are the best that I have used and I have used them all. I think hes right that scottys are the de facto downrigger for the north west because until recently cannons were not trying to make a impact in the area. I have mine serviced at a local shop in edmonds area. The service and the warranty is great. I bought used cannons on craiglist and have had several things replaced for free under the lifetime warranty. love them.

Never purchased from johns but have heard nothing but good things about them. That said 24" is long enough essp. On the non kicker side. However the extendable boom will get a better spread. Also Scotty's are the best IMO and don't plan on ever switching.

I frequent JSG a few times a year. Price wise, they are about in the middle. They are however very knowledgeable and will definitely make sure you leave with what you need.

I don't mind the fact that I'm not getting a rock bottom price. The service and the assurance I'm not missing anything is worth it. Particularly if you are getting into something you're not familiar with, they are outstanding at walking you through what you need and why.
