Fellow kayakers and Joel,
Great kayak thread and I LOVE my kayak so I thought I would show what I did for mine as I do not know how to add pics to a topic thread.
So I made a 5 pic album in my album section.
I pull it up from the stern then over my head onto the stainless. I seem to do ok with that but I am interested in watching someone do the bow retrieval as mentioned in that kayak topic.
My kayak is the cheapest one I could find, a West Marine model for $399 a year or two ago.
Seems fine by me. Stable. I can get into shore dry. I have tons of fun on it, never capsized and even pulled lobster hoops with it one evening.
I have tried a pedal one though and man, when I get the dough, I am getting that for the #2 kayak as those are SWEET!
When launching the kayak, I just unleash it from the stainless (btw, I keep it on top of the roof even when towing the boat -for hundreds of miles- with two 31" rubber tie downs and a ratchet strap 'just in case' but it has never wobbled nor shifted) and toss it over the side into the water with a rope attached.
Jeff
