KeelShield

My Keelguard starts about 2 inches above the brass strip just below the bow eye and ends about 4 inches below the brass strip. I think mine was 7 feet long. Keelguard has 3m adhesive already applied just follow the instructions closely and it should stay on for a long time. The roller on the trailer doesn't touch the keel when the boat is tied down.

Yep, I'd do it again. Our Keel Shield is holding up fine. We went with black and it matches the black in the rub rail. We only brought it up the bow as far as where the colored gel coat ends as one is unlikely to hit anything higher up than that. The Keel Shield kit requires cleaning your hull in the area of application and applying a catalyst adhesive. Then when the Keel Shield is applied it's on for good. No need for 5200. Having said all this, we still don't beach that often as it seems every beach has some bigger boulders lurking just under the surface. But when we do, the Keel Shield does offer some good protection.

Since the red does not match the cabaret color of the boat (Burgundy) then we are looking at a different color. I have been considering running it all the way from the low end of the brass strip up the stem, past the trailer tie down loop, to the rub rail. Maybe hide some of my docking by braille marks :wink

I installed the Keel Guard on the CD22 before it ever left Wefings for the first time. That was just about one year ago. I like it, however, it is delaminating as you can see from the pictures. The full set are in C-Lover album. I do no have rollers. I can understand the delamination at the aft two foot section because the Keel Guard was actually longer than it needed to be an extended past where the c-dory keel starts. This made for a very sharp bend at that part. I do not believe that it was operator error because as you can see the black part of the Keel Guard is still attached to the boat. What has delaminated is where the keel guard attaches to the black stuff. In the last week it has also started to come apart up at the stem.

They will cover that under the Lifetime warranty. I had one come off of my Fourwinns. The harrrrrd part is getting the adhesive off to put the new one on. Dealer did the first one when I replaced it it stayed on. Mine came off from the fiberglass. The factory had just changed the adhesive that they were using. Roger yours looks like it was stuck to the glass good.

how much to buy the shield and have it fitted ???

We purchased our KeelShield on e-bay for around $95.00 for a 7ft or 8ft piece. We installed it ourselves - pretty easy.

After we installed the KeelShield, I then used 4200 to seal the edges.

Only been a few months, but so far so good.
