Keep Up With Me, You Slackers!

If you go, I'd spend it on a good flak jacket and some full body armor.

:disgust

Oh wait....Did you mean Tyboo or Cheney, I'd rather pay to see Mike anyday, but probably not that much... :D

Charlie, sounds like you could see Mike for some quality smelt -- sturgeon time!

Charlie,
Apparently our local paper decided to disclose his location. On Apr 17 he will be in Spokane and If I were willing to pony up $500 I could attend a reception and for another $2100 I could get my picture taken with him. Or I could spend that on trim tabs and radar. Tough call.

I received a letter from Mr. Cheney's office awhile back inviting me to a very nice dinner, offering to make me an "honorary chair" of the republican party in Kenmore and thanking me for my support of the republican party (I'm a long time Democrat as some who know me can easily infer). Similar pricing so I didn't go but I did send a reply. At the risk inciting a small political firestorm but in the hopes that some will get a laugh, here's the edited version of the letter I sent back...(edited to remove the things most likely to offend others).

I never did get a reply...

Dear Dick:

Unfortunately, I am unable to accept the kind invitation to dinner with yourself and George W. Bush. After providing donations to homeless shelters, programs for the mentally ill, programs to support birth control and environmental organizations, we can’t hardly afford dinner right here in Kenmore, not to mention a trip to Washington, DC. I know you’ll understand.

While I cannot make it to the dinner, enclosed, please find a check for $35. Please use this money to purchase pretzels for everyone who attends the dinner to which I was invited. Don’t skimp– get the big pretzels – you know, the ones that get caught in your throat. Also, even though I can’t make it to the dinner with you and George Bush, my wife and I would be happy to have both you and George for dinner at our house or to provide you with the opportunity to represent the white house as honorary chair of a room in our house. We’re planning a party for the 4th of July and hope you can attend this patriotic event. Please RSVP using the form below.

Sincerely,

Roger Bumgarner

Frankly, I'd pay more for any of the bathrooms if I were there with that many people. You could then charge admission. But then I'm an entrapraneur, a Republican. I voted for them last time, but at the same time, I'm dismayed by some of the things going on. I support the "war" but think we need to scale it down, it's hard being the policeman of the world.

"Small firestorm" indeed, stand by.... :cry

Good note, glad we can still do this without going to jail. That's what this country and our freedoms are all about!! Wish we had a flag emoticon, it would be here.... Mike, Bill How about it?

Charlie

Ladies and Gentlemen;
Bill or Mike pulled a new members post from this site when he tried to make a political statement. It is hard to stay out of political discussion, especially for me. There is a forum called "That’s Life" that I was told, is for this kind of discussion. I enjoyed this thread started by Pat and hate to see it turned into a political discussion. Please, let’s leave the political comments to the "That’s Life Forum".
Thank You

Aw come-on - the same letter could be used to reply to the dems outrageously priced fundraisers too... just meant to be joke in general.
Besides, I'm trying to keep up with Pat...

Doing my best to keep up with Pat:

16 posts today! (special topic)
9 yesterday
5 Sat. and Sun. =

29 in the first 4 days of April = 7.25 per day, &

7.25 / day x 365 daqys = 2646.25 posts per year

(not that anybody cares!)

Not saying it didn't happen, but I sure don't recall just up and deleting anything that wasn't an ad or spam. We did move Mr. Duckboy to the proper forum, but I don't think we zapped anybody, did we?

We sure won't delete RB's post, but me and B~C have discussed beating the crap out of him at Cathlamet.

Just don't throw me into the paddlewheel. I'll wear Depends so the crap has a containment system.

No, no, no, Roger. We just discussed it - we ain't gonna try it. Do you know how old me and B~C are?

Are you still going to Cathlamet if the fishing is shut down?

Yes, still planning on going regardless. This year, I'll be more social, plan on a better contribution to the pot luck and I'll bring more wine. I'm thinking we should still be able to fish for sturgeon, no? If not, I could go for some poking around. Last year the weather was crappy and I spent most of the time attempting to fish so I didn't really take in the area.

Mike - it seems like I am always apologizing to someone for something or other. You moved and closed the thread just as I wanted to tell duckboy that I thought he was out of line with his post, on this site. My memory failed me when I thought about what really happened and I apologize for it.

I am very involved politically and have strong political views, however I keep them to my-self here and wish everyone else would except in the “That’s Life Forum”. The reason I like this site so much, is because of it’s friendliness. As I said in other post, I believe discussing politics among friends can be dangerous and I want to be friends with the people in this group. Unfortunately most people can not get into a heated discussion about politics and still remain friends. I have found that if you bring up facts that contradicts a persons belief, they often resort to personal attacks. Then it is no longer a friendly discussion.
