Kudos to Triton marine

I was just at the dealership today at Port Boathouse in Port Alberni to look over my new 2011 CD22. What a gorgeous boat! The factory has done a really first class job on this boat. Attention to detail and care is obvious from the interior gel coat to the finishing of the wiring and cabinets and the pin stripe down the sheer stake. My expectations have been surpassed by a long ways. Thank you so much Scott and your team for a truly beautiful boat. I enjoyed the build so much with the photos sent and email conversations, a really stress free experience. I will take her to sea and make every effort to live my cruising dreams in this fine ship. Yes, it seems with Triton the quality is back! The posts in this thread on page 3 from Mark Toland, Sea Wolf Joe and me back in 2007 pretty much sum up how the quality of the Toland C-Dory went down the toilet under Scot Reynolds and especially Tom Laytham. In fact these posts seem almost prophetic from the vantage of 2010 looking backward. I ruffled Scot Reynold's feathers a bit when I called the Auburn crew "an army of nameless, faceless production workers." That is what they had to do to try to produce 50 - 60 boats a month instead of the 6 they had been doing in Kent. C-Dorys have to be built by craftsmen and now they are again. The most important thing, even without direct factory sales, the relationship between C-Dory buyers / owners and the factory has healed. Kudos to the Lindhouts and Scott Boysen for sure!

George, congrats on the new boat. I'm glad you're happy with it and trust that you'll get many years of good service out of it. Scott and his team are doing a great job. I was pleased to be able to see your boat at the near final stages a few weeks ago and the quality looked quite good. I hope that you're able to get it out some in the next few weeks to really enjoy it.

Now there is only one piece missing, EQ Marine. Les and Kathy offer unmatched quality customer service. I hope that Triton and EQ will find common ground to unite (they need each other). Triton is a quality builder and EQ a quality dealer.

I am like Pat on this one. It is nice to see that the
craftsmanship is back in good hands . So far so good, and also agree with Jerry & Helen too. The C-Dory World would spin steadier if EQ was back in the fold.

Problem is, Master Marine owns the rights in that area now and would have to be persuaded to relinquish those rights. I am a customer of Master Marine (bought my Tom Cat from them and go back primarily for work on my Yamahas) and have been treated well by them, but they have a profound lack of imagination and involvement with the C-Brat world. EQ has done most of my rigging work.

I know agreements are in place and feelings would likely be hurt but C-Dory needs Les at EQ Marine to grow the brand, groom buyers and do his gifted outfitting work.

George,

Congratulations on the new boat. A great step in your "walkabout" plans. Sure want to wish you many years of happy travels. Glad Triton came through so well.

Thank you Harvey indeed a big step towards walkabout. Getting books and charts of the Broughtons and mainland BC around cape caution. Getting ready to to rock for the spring. George

I'll give a second to bringing Les and Kathy back into the fold. I know that it may not happen given the way dealerships are distributed, but Les is absolutely top notch. I bought my '84 classic from him and he outfitted the boat with a well thought out suite of electronics. He also made sure that I understood all the new toys.

George, even though I've never met you, I am familiar with the "happenings" in your life for the past year and I must say, that I am soooo pleased that Triton Marine has created such a masterpiece C-Dory for you. You truly deserve it! :thup

As to the subject of Les and Kathy at EQ Marine....I too can not say enough about how wonderful they are and what a service they provided for C-Dory in the past. We purchased a new 22' from them in '04 and the purchasing advice, sales, and service was impeccable!

Thank you so much Dave for the kind words. It has been a tough year and all I can do is keep moving forward. Hope to cross paths out there, George

Congratulations on the new boat.

Just wanted to add that its Kathy, Les and Carl - since Carl does the rigging. They rigged my cory for prior owner and did the repower for me last winter w Honda 90. They are all very helpful and appreciated. Hope Triton can find away to get them in the fold.

I just got home from picking up my new CD22, great experience working with Dave and Mike and the team at Port Boathouse. They all made sure my boat fit my trailer and all systems were good to go. Had a nice sea trial boat is quiet and solid, very impressive Triton! Will start putting my gear aboard and getting some hours on, George

George, we hope to cross paths in Canadian waters one day, maybe at Nanaimo next year. Enjoy your new boat, confident that Triton is building them right. I too am SO impressed with Scott Boysen's and the Lindhout's approach to building C-Dorys, these may turn out to be the best C-Dorys ever built.
