Lake Union Sea Ray has liquidation event July 25 thru Aug 5

It is interesting that of the items listed in their 10th Annual sale page under events, that the word liquidation is used on only the C-Dory line.

The ad says "Liquidation Pricing".

I had a talk with a largish dealer recently and they were telling me that when C-Dory changed hands the new owners blew out a lot of their factory inventory at low costs to larger dealers to stay afloat (so to speak). Maybe thay are just passing the savings on to the consumer?

Its time to reorder for '09. All boat companies want to be able to project what they will build over the winter. So they want you to order now .And us dealers want to have clear lots . Except we dont have crystal balls to know what will sell. Thats the hard part. No info on whether anyone is dropping any manufacturers or dealers.

I noticed on their web site ad they have zero (0) 2008 models listed , only 2007. Looks to me like almost all boats are going for firesale prices right now - been unable to sell my 19 - not even a single offer, since its like new I wasnt going to give it away - but no offers ? One year old and I'm selling it for 20% less than I paid - but when new boats are offered for 30% less - its a buyers market.
Of course if I ever do sell mine - its up to the next bigger one for me! In the mean time I'll spend my time on Dakota out in the water.
Cheers,
Tom

I will rarely if ever speak about the factory relationship with our dealers but as a dealer is advertising a liquidation event I thought it best.

Fluid Marine did not have an opportunity to establish a relationship with LUSR as their interest in being a dealership ended prior to us purchasing the C-Dory operations. From the incomplete history that has been told to me - this is too bad. Although I never had the opportunity to meet the folks it is my understanding that they are a first rate dealership.

Contrary to an earlier posting - the new owners did not blow out inventory at acquisition. Quite the contrary, we spent the first month or so finishing up orders for boats that were in various states of completion. All boats we build are committed to dealers prior to us waxing the mold.

We will provide the same support for the boats that LUSR are selling (I hate the term "liquidating") as we would for any other of our dealers.

Rich,

Thanks for 1. Looking in on this site. It is good to know there is some interest in the owners site from the manufacturers perspective. and 2. for clearing up the story right at the start. That does a world of good here, showing there is interest in open communication and providing clear, concise direction. As for me and my house, we as C-Dory owners appreciate that.

For my part, as a C-Dory owner, C-Dory Marine representative, and C-Brat ambassador, (Are my lapels polished enough yet :?: :wink ,)* I wish C-Dory Marine Productions (by whatever name it is currently under the best.) We Want you to succeed and we want to point with pride to the origin of our fine craft and say, "go see them and get your's too"

We were on a new dock last week and it took an hour to get the boat ready to put into the water because there were no lest than a dozen interruptions all starting out like " Nice boat, what is it and .......?"

Have a great day ,

Harvey

Rich, who is my dealer now? I bought my CD25 Cruiser with a Honda BF150 from the factory at the 2005 SBS. When C-Dory got out of factory sales and service, Jeff told me LUSR would be my dealer, and part of the deal was that they would become a Honda dealer. LUSR did not become a Honda dealer, but you are right, the service manager, Aaron, runs a high quality shop, and we at least got good service (including a warranty service) on the hull. Now apparently LUSR is not going to be my dealer. Am I just orphaned, or is there somebody else who will become the dealer for those of us who purchased our boats directly from the factory?

Lake Union Sea Ray was extremely unresponsive to us when we bought our C-Dory earlier this year, and we ended up purchasing from Master Marine. Despite repeated calls and emails, their salesmen never really gave me a quote for the boat with the options and electronics that I specified. It seemed strange at the time...I would have expected them to want to make a sale. At one point during the negotiations our salesman at Master Marine mentioned that LUSR would no longer be selling C-Dory boats after they got rid of their current stock.

Now you know why I guess. It never really seemed like a good fit to start with. C-Dorys lined up beside the freeway just is not how to market C-Dorys.

Pat,

If you "had" a dealer at the start, you were lucky. I met my newly delivered TomCat on foam blocks in the lot at Port of Edmonds. No dealer, no salesman, no help, no instruction book, etc.. 'Had to figure everything out on the fly.

I had purchased one of the last orders done by the facory's internal sales department and the guy I bought it from then went to work for USLR or whatever and said they would not let him off to show me my newly delivered boat.

Sink or swim.

In spite of this, I was able to get the factory to do some warranty work before shipping the boat to Oklahoma.

I think the RV dealership example is kind of similar. I bought a new diesel pusher down in Oklahoma a few years back and that dealer did squat nothing to solve my warranty problems. Basically they subdivide all the responsibility among the vendors of the varous components.

I was lucky to find a large RV dealership here in Wichita who believe in customer service and they treated me great! 'Helped me get a number of warranty problems, esp., lights wiring, done at no charge. I think Wefings is like that last dealer.

In any event, most of us will end up in areas where there is no C-Dory dealer proper and we need to find a local, trustworthy dealership with whom to work over the years. The C-Dory factory did help out with some costs of warranty repairs done locally even though I had no proper dealer.

So, no need to panic.

John

Rich, thank you so much for your recent posts. It makes a world of difference to know for certain that the factory is listening to our discussions here. :thup :thup

Pat,

I hope you enjoy trouble-free boating on your C-Dory. However, if a service issue on your boat does come up, you will find your local dealer, Master Marine, to be extremely knowledgable and helpful.

With the C-Brats, Master Marine, and our soon-to-be-punctual Frank/Casey looking after you let's hope you never feel alone.

Enjoy the summer,

OK, thanks, Rich. We certainly are enjoying it! Lots of San Juan cruising on weekends so far, the Bellingham CBGT (C-Brat Get Together) in August, a week in the Gulf Islands immediately after, and two weeks on Lake Powell in September. Boats (both of them actually) are not in need of any immediate attention.

Well today I got in the mail a magazine from Lake Union Sea Ray
and do not see C Dory listed. Sea Ray and Whaler seem to be the
only brands they mention. Makes one wonder eh!

Sounds pretty cut and dry. No more Lake Union C- Ray, Oh well. I only called and talked to them one time about C-Dory's. Didn't get much help. Sorry, but I think to be a dealer, there needs to be some level of vested interest and product knowledge. Sounds like Master Marine is more the level expected by average C-dory owners, (of which we know are all well above average :wink
