But, my personal decision have using several laptops and various programs, on the smaller faster boats, is that dedicated chart plotters just seem to work better.
I had been having fun using the I pad as a secondary chart plotter--and it is less complicated than a laptop in use.
It's good to see you around the board again.

I defiantly agree on the chartplotter. This laptop is not for navigation. It's for the Admiral to use for business purposes while we are out on the boat.
The hard part is finding a good reasonably non-intrusive solution, that can also take the shock of bouncing across the waves. I haven't found the right solution yet, but am still looking.
In the end, I may have to build something as you suggested.
