Letter to the Men's Helpline:
Hi Andy, I really need your advice on a serious problem:

I have suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs: if the phone rings and I answer, the caller hangs up; she goes out with the girls a lot. I try to stay awake to look out for her when she comes home but I usually fall asleep.

Anyway last night about midnight I hid in the shed behind the boat. When she came home she got out of someone's car, buttoning her blouse, then she took her panties out of her purse and slipped them on.

It was at that moment, crouched behind the boat, that I noticed a hairline crack in the outboard engine mounting bracket.

Is that something I can weld or do I need to replace it ?

Two cracks in one night!

Weld one and replace the other!

Make sure the new crack is a newer model with lower hours, etc.

Win-Win………..right?

Joe. :teeth :thup

Since both items you speak of are expensive to replace, I would keep an eye :disgust on both and see if the problems get worse. The motor you can buy new if need be; the other is more than likely will only be available as a low mileage demo model which at best has never been titled. Might be better off to keep your current model. :cry You might consider some new hobbies.

replace the motor with a new one. dump the other problem and rent when you have to, cheaper in the long run and you can true many different models and sizes until you fine what you are looking for. Then you can rent to own a Russian import for half the price.

The imported one has an additional plus in that with the language barrier you legitimately can say you didn't understand what she said. (If you are hearing impaired it doesn't matter anyhow!).

Jody my friend, I would say have go a real problem. That cracked motor mount could be from a seeping screw hole that is letting water intrude into the transom. That whole transom could be wet clear through, and soft. Could also be that the motor hydraulics have failed and let the OB down with a bang causing the mount to crack and to be stressed and close to the break point. Welding might just be hiding the problem. The transom could fail and the OB could come loose and deep six at any time. You should be very careful our you could loose that engine. Probably the best fix would be to be sure and have someone hold onto it the next time you take the boat out. Be a good idea to have the wife back there hanging onto it just in case. Sure would not want to loose an expensive engine. Yep, I'd have her hanging onto that engine for the next few times out, just to make sure.

I like the idea of the import but, the problem is the first thing they learn is how to write checks. So after the first year they might not come in at half price.

I don't think if pay per view or on demand is in my future. Tempting as it may seem. (Russian Roulette?) Like renting boats, the rentee does not always get full disclosure of discrepencies and possible shortcomings of the rental unit. Some of the unmentioned items can have long lasting side effects. Given my phobias I'm sticking with my current lease purchase type arrangement. Life has been berry berry good to me.

Good post! I have a girlfriend so i will not write anything down that can and most probably would be held against me . ha!ha! Tug
