Hi Folks -

We're taking Fishwife (CD 22) for a long weekend's cruise later this month on the Florida ICW from St. Augustine south to, oh, maybe Cape Canaveral. No particular destination. Just sampling some new waterfront. Would appreciate recommendations on restaurants, marinas, & things to see along that stretch. Especially marinas where the ambiance and transient rates are C-Dory friendly. But still with hot showers :).

Thanks,
Skip

Hey Skip How are you doing ? Maybe instead of ICW go west and go south on the St. Johns river .Mike (Pappion l) lives in Astor Lots of nice fishcamps (showers) send Mike a PM and ask . Maybe we could come up with you guys Jim on Jennykatz(Duck)

Hi guys -

Congrats on that Venture. She's pretty. Your suggestion on doing the St. Johns instead is a good one. It's one of our favorite cruises. Been from Jacksonville down to Sanford on various occasions, but mostly launch at Astor where we now know Mike lives. Will PM on possibly getting together next time we head that way. This time though, we're looking for recommendations on waterside restaurants and marinas on the ICW south of St. Augustine. My modest goal (compared to the Great Loop, say) is to cover the coast from Charleston to Mobile. Until I retire in a couple years, we're taking it in weekend chunks.

Skip how far will you come down the ICW Mike and I are going to do the trip from Astor to Naples sometime in Jan or Feb take care hope to see you somtime this yr Jim

Astor to Naples sounds like a very cool trip, Jim. Unless you know of some ditch that I don't, sounds like you'll be heading way north on the St. John's, way south on the ICW to the St. Lucie canal, across the state via Lake Okeechobee/ Caloosahatchee River, and back down the coast to Naples. Love it. Unfortunately, Patty and I are pretty much limited to what can be done in the occasional long weekend until I retire in a couple years. Then I'm looking forward to the retiree's dream of setting off in an RV with no schedule to keep, except on the water. Meanwhile, this trip, probably just from St. Augustine to Cape Canaveral and back.
