I want to thank Susan for letting get this boat. I have coveted my neighbor boat for far to long. I first tried to buy it 9 months ago but could not make the price and Don was not ready to lower it yet. Made another offer after Christmas and still could not do it. finally I was able to make the money work and Don meet me half way so we both got what we wanted.
I do feel a little sad that Don had to sell her. I know that if his health was better she would never have come on the market. He put a lot of work and love into her.
So whats 5 feet get me?? 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 feet of back deck to start with. but also a head and a four man table. there is also a closet and more storage then any other c-dory out there right now. but none of that is my favorite part. This boat has a 18" h x 6' long x 7' wide storage compartment under the aft deck just aft of the 100 gallons of fuel. I plan to put all my fishing, crab , shrimp gear back there and out of Susan's cabin. No more mixing of the gear and no more complaining about taking up too much room with my stuff.
I think that 6 people could sit on the back deck and talk with out being crowed. So this boat meets the first rule of boating. Drinks 6 feeds 4 sleeps 2.
After the test drive last Saturday I was impressed with the ride. because she is longer and thinner then a new 25 she sits down in the water a little more and is very solid in turns and when cutting wakes. the extra length helps with the small chop a lot.
We are trying to get every thing switched over from the 22 to the 27 for the weekend and will be out and about cruising over the holiday. One day in la Conner to see my mom and then out to the islands and maybe some halibut fishing, all depends on the weather.
Of course the Susan E will be going up for sale very soon and I have to find a place to park my camper because it and the 27 will not fit in the back yard.
Oh and she trailers very well for those that are thinking its a lot, well it is but who cares trailer is a trailer, just keep it between the lines.
Now I have to buy a shore power cord, dinghy, dinghy motor, new downrigger, ice box, windlass, heater, stove, fenders, spot light, berth carpet, bigger anchor ( what size are the 25s using) repaint a few things , new graphics, rebuilt the kitchen cabinets ( susan needs MORE storage) install a hot water shower, etc.....
