Looking for 25 or V26

I'm seriously looking for a C-Dory 25 or Venture 26 (or Cape Cruiser).

I'm in Florida, but would be willing to consider boats in other areas of the country.

If you know of boats not listed on the forum, I'd like to know.

I believe there are a few boats available in florida 2/ 25ft in ft myers at Bulldog boat werks and I think Wefing has a 26 venture the 25's are going for about 55k - 81k one's a 05and the other a new 09 thats what they were at a Ft myers show last month . wefings advertizes here also Good Luck on your quest .

I'd definitely include Marc in my search. He has a lot of savvy about where used boats are in Florida and what they should cost. Besides that new one he's got is a honey.

Wow, looking at the 25's listed for sale on the C-Brats, there aren't any. Except for that one in San Carlos, Mexico. I guess those 25's are saleable.

BTY, San Carlos is not a bad place which to go. We took a sailboat there, and it was a 2 day trip (via truck/trailer) from LA to San Carlos. The marina is first rate and professional, and they can take care of a boat. The homes there were selling for the same amount as back in Calif, but not many of them finished. For us older people, Catch 22 was filmed near there. It's just north of Guymas, on the Pacific mainland side, a days drive south of the border.

Outboard Motor Shop in Oakland, California has a Venture 26 that they are most anxious to move. It know that is 3000 miles from Florida, but depending on the deal offered, it might be worth the shipping.

There was a nicely appointed CD 25 that was just recently announced in a thread here, but it is on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. A long way to go, but it has been done before.

Good Luck, and By the way, the Marc suggested is at Wefings. Have never been there, (Wrong corner of the country, but he has an excellent reputation. I would not hesitate to give him a call.

Thank you all for your suggestions. There is no doubt that the west cost has more C-Dorys. I am willing to travel to get a good boat at the right price.

This group is certainly a kind and generous forum. Thank you all. I look forward to meeting many of you in the future.

Hey Tom and Maryln!

Have either of the PDQ or airplane sold yet?

Seeing you are retired, do not short sell the fact that buying a boat on the NW corner can truly open up some wonderful water travels....prior to returning to Crystal River, particuarly this time of year.

Mid March already, find a boat in the next month or two, puts you mid May"ish"....just in time to do a couple few weeks of new boat to you travel and shake downs, and head up to the inside passage for a couple weeks, drop down to the Colombia River for some cruising, followed by Lake Tahoe, then drag her home.

Or, buy local... and miss the wonderful travels and adventure of a nice 2-3 month journey. Just a thought....but I do like road trips, and have enjoyed a small taste of some of the above mentioned travels.

Life is too short to just boat on the eastern side....however nice we do have it.

Byrdman,

We plan Alaska this summer which is one of the reasons for looking for a C-Dory to take along instead of the camper.

I'd gladly travel to the west coast, but it complicates the purchase as I like to see what I'm buying.

Airplane sale in final week. Sold to a pilot in the Netherlands. Has taken forever to get all the paper work done for overseas sale. Have folks looking at the PDQ. One of the things that keeps me from looking into the one north of Victoria as it is out of country.

Good luck on your travels.
