Looking for a C-Dory and to becoming a C-Brat

New Guy is talking about exactly what I have read and heard. Merc was getting upset about the Japanese engines cutting into their market so they approached the government and got them to impose this tariff. My local dealer has said that Johnson has already imposed a 12% price increase and Johnson is going to absorb the rest of it.

That is strange that Johnson has raised their prices but Suzuki has not. Is my understanding not correct that basically the Johnson is made by Suzuki? This would mean Johnson is jumping the gun and trying to get a head start on the game but the game may be called and the tariff would never go into effect. Would they then return the money that they collected because of it?? :?: I would think if the tariff was in effect that Suzuki would be in the same situation.

New Guy thanks for you info. it is good to have someone on here that can go right to the source.

I do know that the E TEC engines meet all of the 2006 EPA, EU and the 2008 CARB 3 Star Ultra low emissions standards but darn I would hate to have to go to court and defend myself because of some officer that doesn't know it does. That would just take all of the fun out of being able to go where you want without a hassle.

Some more food for thought on my part.

Thanks all for the good discussion on this as it will help me make my decision when the time comes. I'm one of those people that researches everything to death before I buy so hang in here with me and I won't be a bother forever.
