Looking for Traveler

I had a C Dory 22 ,2003 model, that I sold to a fellow from Washington N.C.
back in 2004. My wife, the same one I had in 2004, now understands and wants to buy a C Dory to enjoy in our retirement on Edisto Island S.C.
Has anyone seen or knows anything about Traveler?
She had a burgundy accent strip and a single Honda 90.
I covered a lot of water on the Chesapeake while I lived in Virginia and owned her.
It would be great to have her back again.

I do not remember the name of the gentleman I sold her to, but he mentioned he had retired from the logging business and spent part of the year in Washington and part in the Bahamas.
I remember that because I was very envious of him.

Coincidentally, there is a CD25 names "Traveler" owned by Tom Smith and Marlyn Morey who live in the Continental Estates near Wildwood, FL.

Tom and Marlyn were at the Hontoon Island CBGT back in late February 2014.

I realize this is not the boat you're looking for, but the coincidence is interesting.

Best,

Good luck!

For 14 years, we spent summer vacations on EI and explored the low lands and went to Edisto Seafood for fresh shrimp, fish and the excellent crab meat dip made the owner;s wife. She also made pies and the best peach cobbler. Good times.

We played bingo twice a week at Lion's CLub where children were permitted to play. You arrrived 90 minutes to get line to get a table inside in the AC room, if late you sat on the porch.

All of the homes had names, like Inn Too Deep, Jus' Rest'N, Family TIdes, ..

I hope you find your boat

Hello, We live in Washington. We have only seen one boat with red trim in the local waters. We do not know the owners. The boat is called Fox-C. We have seen it twice at the bath State dock in Bath NC. If we see it we will try to get to know the owners

Well I love a puzzle :D

A quick search shows "Melanie & Stephen Thomas "Fox C" on the list for a few N.C. gatherings (although they don't seem to be forum members). Maybe that helps?

I grew up in Charleston and spent many, many thousands of hours in and around Edisto. Fond memories from there. I am jealous.

I am 30mi down river from Washington now and will certainly keep an eye out.

Best Regards,
Ray

Wow. I may have your boat. The description has my boat down to a tee - but just to be sure.....

I purchased a 2003 model/BF90 from Marc (Wefings in 2009) with 'Traveler' hand painted on both sides of the cabin (since removed). Not sure how many hours you put on her, but she had 125 hrs. when I got her. She has the 2 burner Origo alcohol stove. For electronics, she had a Garmin 185 GPS, Uniden depth finder, and Hummingbird FF. These have been replaced with a Raymarine C70. She did not have a radar arch nor radar but does now :D

I don't know sounds close but the hours were very low unless the other owners did not use her at all.
My boat had a burgundy strip with matching interior. The only other unique thing about her I remember is she had all chain anchor rode.
I purchased Traveler new from a dealer in Essex Maryland. If this is her is she now in California?

Looks like you've found your "Traveler" Coolio! Of course a HIN or photo would tell you more, but Wefings did have a 2003 22 Cruiser, burgundy stripe, single Honda 90, single-axle Magic Tilt, etc. for sale in late 2008 and 2009. Someone who saw it at Wefings (but already had his own 22) even started a thread on it in late 2008, because it was so clean. (Yep, I went digging while I had coffee :D)

This is not my boat, and I don't have anything to gain, it's even at a Dealership (Wefings) But it is such a great deal I just had to post it.....

It is a REALLY nice boat....like new...with only 80 hours....not a mark on it....has a single Honda 90...not much electronics...but such a good deal... Mark told me it is in the high 20's...... but it is so nice it is like buying a new boat.....not a crack anywhere, or a bruse, or blemish....it is the dark red color...has a single axle galvinized trailer ....has a swim step.... But it's just outstanding condition... one of those boats that sat in someones garage...lightly used... but due to age is priced right.....
I HIGHLY recommend this boat to anyone looking for a super nice boat...

Also Wefings mentioned it in a couple of threads in January 2009:

We still have a 2003 with 90 Honda on consignment . Has less than 120 hours on a single axle magic Tilt with Brakes . Nice boat @ 30k .

As Marc already posted we do have an '03 22 on consignment. Garmin GPS, Hummingbird Fish Finder, VHF radio, rod holders, trim tabs, safety equipment all included. Pictures are available.

Sounds as though you have already found her, but these details should pretty much tell you for sure (although HIN would be even better).

Sounds like she has a happy owner now, but perhaps you can find another 22 to steal your heart? :love

It was just a dream to have Traveler back. I doubted the current owner would not want to part with her. I have some great pictures of my journeys on the Rappahannock and the Potomac. Extremely fond memories.
We are still about a year away from moving to Edisto and have agreed that the boat WE want will be another C 22.
Our quest has just begun.
Think I will re-read River Horse for fun.

The only other unique thing about her I remember is she had all chain anchor rode.

I can attest to the 100-200 ft of chain - still there but I spliced it with rope.
Another thing I recall is that there used to be a 3' whip antenna for the VHF which I replaced with a Digital 529.

I looked through old photos but couldn't find any 'before' pictures with the Traveler name. Registration had AL numbers.

I understand you can't replace sentimental values, but who knows what the future will hold. Since the hull hasn't changed since '87, all the 22' CDs should ride the same. As a matter of fact, Vern has his 2003 CD up for sale (Lincoln, CA)

It sure sounds like you have my old boat. VA to NC to AL to CA.
The all chain rode was a good idea in theory but I remember it clanging against the hull at night.
We are not fixed on a 2003 model. Since the basic boat design has not changed we will be looking at over all condition, motor, and accessories.
Boat Trader has several listed in the South East and I see there are dealers in NC and FL.
