All the combiner does is connect the batteries together when the voltage reaches 13.7 amps, and separates them when it falls to less than 12.7 amps. It does not sample amperage in the batteries, nor does it have any "smart" functions. You do the same by switching batteries to "all" or mechanically combining them.
