Manufacturer of C-Dory in 2009

Finally taking the plunge and I'm in the process of purchasing a 2009 23 Venture. While trying to get insurance arranged, I've run into a problem with identifying the manufactures of record in 2009. Insurance company wants it and just "C-Dory" doesn't register with them. The web lists various possibilities: Fluid Marine, C-Dory Marine Group, C-Dory Inc., Triton Marine Industries, and the current Northwest Marine industries. Does anyone know which company was operational in 2009? Thanks.

In May of 2008, the C-Dory brand/manufacturing were acquired by FLUID MARINE LLC.

In June of 2009, SeaSport Boats acquired the C-Dory brand and started building them. I believe that they were operating under the name of Triton Marine Industries at that point in time but the Triton name may have come along later.

So in brief, without knowing the exact date your 2009 boat was built, it's hard to determine who built it.

Questions off the top of my head, w/o time to research:

1. The manufacturer's name is not indicated on the pink slip and registration paperwork for the boat?

2. Do all C-Dorys (Dories) have the same code in their HIN number, regardless of their real manufacturer?

Reference: 13 Character HIN

Too bad if the real manufacturer isn't indicated!:sad

My 19 was a 2009 and built by Fluid Marine in Sept '08 and delivered in Nov '08 Nice build by the way they did great boats.
I'd shop another insurance company myself if they cared more about a defunct entity that built the boat than about the boat sitting there on the trailer with a C Dory logo on the house and serial # on the transom
They may prove troublesome down the road. My insurance just says C Dory as the make. They were happy with that.

The first 3 letters of the HIN will give the information the insurance company wants. They should already have the HIN--when you apply for insurance.
