Marina Recommendation

Last week we stayed at Ladd's Landing Marina at the top of South Hero Island on Lake Champlain VT.
-The service offered by dock hands and office personal was superb.
-The bathroom and showroom was tidy, well stocked and accessible.
-The harbor is naturally protected from the prevailing southerly winds and is relatively protected from a Northern wind which we had twice during our stay. Calmness in the marina is reinforced by the use of a dock known as a wave attenuator. It worked well for the two days of blows we had, diminishing the ability of some nice size chop from entering the area.

Early on it becomes apparent that the owners of this Marina know their stuff. Their ability to choose, train and lead their staff is uncanny...good that is. They're always present and approachable.

Fall is already in their grasp and many boats were already being pulled for the season. The methods and the equipment they use is very unique to the yard work of the region and they were masters of this.

The gas is Ethanol Free and High Test only.

The docks are floating only which we prefer. The cleats are adjustable and the slips themselves were appropriately sized.

The store is small but very carefully stocked.

There is dining along the main road to both the north and the south as well as numerous Places to visit and dine by boat.

This year "Champ", their Lake Monster, swallowed a bit too much water and the whole lake is about 1.5-2.0' low. But remember: it stays the same during high tide or low;-)
We loved our whole experience on Lake Champlain.

This Marina has an unusual and stable method of pulling the larger and deeper draft boats. A very new looking Oliver 2050 4x4 farm tractor in conjunction with a tough and versatile hydraulic trailer. They make it look easy. This area of the Lake was 1.5-2' low due to drouth and so creative brilliance combined with seasoned experience won the day for Dan and his crew.

Kim and I enjoyed the cleanliness and friendliness of this marina. Emily and Dan run a great operation. Below are a couple shots of
Thistle. This was the perfect boat for these waters as there were draft issues every where.

This is an exampe of an excellent review of a facility. I have proposed to the administrators, that we add a thread or forum for Marina Reviews. Thank you so much Don and Kim!
