Mast

i guess it may vary with year. I definitely saw a EC with it off to the side. i'll try to find a pic. either way it does fold down.

not the best pic. there is another one that clearly shows it. but this one appears to be to the side.

I can't imagine why they would have hinged one to the side.

Why not ask Andrew Custis, the Ranger factory public information/ service advisor?

Joe. :teeth :thup

Word from Ranger is that they are going to the forward-folding mast as standard on the 21 and 25, but a few more boats will be released with the old style side-folding mast.

Yes, I like the forward folding version better. We just got a blue 21 at the dealership, and it has one of the remaining side-folding masts. I don't like the folding as well, and you do end up a bit taller. Also, the spotlight isn't part of the whole folding thing, as it is with the new mast.

On the plus side, I think the position of the mast, which is placed further aft on the side-folding version, looks better when it's up.

Question--what does the mast rest on when it is forward? Is there chance of abraison of the gel coat of the eyebrow?

My 09 Ranger 25 folds down to the port side of the boat!

Mine also folds to the side.
thataway, I can't say for sure about the forward folding mast , ours has a kick stand , same stuff as the railings .
cut short and it folds up to meet the mast . It is like the leg that holds the drivers seat when not in the folded position.
If you look closely at pictures you will see the stand on the roof above the round port hole and hand hold on the port side of the roof.
Just guessing the forward one is the same but in the front but I cannot say for sure , having never seen one. :?:

Thank you. Yes, I have seen in person how the tabernacle to port works. I just didn't see a support for the foreward tabernacle.

you're right... on closer inspection I can not see what holds it up either

The forward folding masts have a support that comes up just in front of the windshield. Their shrouds have alternate attachment points on the forward part of the cabin top to prevent swaying side to side.

ahh... now we see how it goes, thanks .
BTW where does the prop rod stow when not holding the mast forward ?

The support is hinged, and there is a clip to hold it flat on the deck when not in use. It sits between the forward deck hatch and the windshield.
