C-Dory boats is part of a family of boats produced by Northwest Marine Industries located in Bellingham Washington. The other boats produced along with C-Dory are Sea Sport, Osprey, and Skagit Orca. Back in the early 2000’s, all these brands were manufactured autonomously. Since the downturn of the industry that was no longer viable, thus NMI came in to the picture. The ownership/lineage of the company comes from the original Sea Sport family. We also have one of the very important members of the former Osprey team.
C-Dory has been a long standing reputable northwest brand for many years. The Toland family had a viable vision and were a very quality builder. Since the Tolands, C-Dory has gone through many different owners and or management groups, which ultimately went away. Today C-Dory is manufactured right alongside Sea Sport, Osprey and Skagit Orca. The craftsmanship those boats are known for is utilized in all the C-Dory’s produced. We at NMI are honored to be part of the team charged with keeping on the tradition of C-Dory.
While we are eager to help and participate in any way possible to the health and growth of the C-Brats, our involvement will probably never live up to some of the members’ expectations. NMI will make a commitment though to be on the C-Brat site once a month with company news, boat pictures and deliveries, any significant changes to the product and the announcement of new dealers. A major part of the health and viability of a boat company is their dealers. That means a dealer that knows the product, has the potential to service the product, will work with C-Dory to market the product, and stock an adequate amount of boats so the public can see the new product for themselves. After being in this industry for over 50 years our experience is, if boats are not available to be seen they will not sell. For that reason we are adding new dealers across the country who have the financial capability to stock product. Unfortunately we can no longer carry dealers who cannot.
Lastly we are aware as mentioned earlier of frustration from the C-Brats that the factory is not on the C-Brat site enough. We simply do not have the personnel to dedicate time to do so at this time. We at the factory field 20 to 25 calls or E-Mails a week with questions about C-Dory’s. Most of those are questions about situations or parts needed for their boats built in the 1990’s. We also welcome, and provide factory tours for individuals. We also open the factory up on the weekend to accommodate prearranged C-Brat gatherings in the area. We are happy to be here for all C-Dory customers and will return your calls or E-Mails as fast as time permits. Lastly there have been comments on the C-Brats about the lack of dealers in some parts of the US. If any of you have a recommendation for a dealer, most notably the Northeast, or the Midwest please contact the factory. 360-389-5351 or www.c-dory.com. Thank you for your past and continued support from proud builders of C-Dory boats.

Thanks for the post Mark. It has been nice seeing your more frequent presence here lately. Among those of us who have bought NMI built boats in recent years I've not heard a negative thing said about NMI or the dealers, and have really appreciated your openness, prompt responses, and willingness to open the factory both to individuals and especially the large groups on your weekend each summer!

As you mentioned, there are some with older boats built by previous owners of the line who may have slightly different expectations, and that's fine. But speaking from the standpoint of someone who has bought three brand new boats in the last 20 years, NMI has been levels above the other two brands, so I'm not really sure what more one could ask for! Sure we've all heard about that other local company that builds luxury mini-tugs which some people like to compare with, but c'mon with C-Dory we're talking no-frills outboard fishing boats, and in that category I don't think you can beat the combination of BOTH construction quality and customer service you're offering.

Looking forward to your continued success and future contributions on C-Brats!

Mark,

Thank you for this well put and honest response. I am extremely excited to take delivery of my boat in the coming weeks. Most importantly I appreciate the quality and thought put into the build. Please thank Ron for my private tour a couple weeks ago and the honest / open discourse we shared. I sincerely appreciated it.

I wish you and the team success into future!

Harald

Sounds very fair to me Mark and thanks for posting. You guys have been nothing buy helpful to me over the years and we plan to cruise our 19 angler for many years to come. I would not hesitate to purchase a new model from your group if I was in the market for one.

Mark, Thank you and NMI for your presence here lately, and I look forward to the continuation. NMI has indeed raised the bar for the C-Dory brand and that is good to see and hear. That is good for all of us.

I admit to being critical of the choice to drop Marc at Wefings from the dealer group, but as I said, that is your choice and your business. For me, it seems that there should have been a way to reward his loyalty to the C-Dory brand over the years, with out cutting him off from the advantages of being a dealer (if there are actually advantages), and still add teh new Florida dealer to the package.

Thank you for taking the time to be here (C-BRATS.com) and to open the factory to the Group for a tour and to individuals (both current owners and prospective) and the best to you and NMI in the future. I look forward to seeing future posts and hearing of the new and improved D-Dory line.

Mark, as I said before, it may not always be obvious, but I am solidly in NMI's corner. Do we wish you did some things differently? Yes, of course, but as I also posted some time ago, it is your business, and we should all be grateful that you are committed to seeing that C-Dory boats continue to be manufactured. We should be appreciative that you open up the factory for the Bellingham C-Brat Get Together. I have seen for myself that you guys are making the best C-Dorys ever built. And a special thanks to Greg Little, who is always generous with his advice, regardless of when a C-Dory was manufactured or by whom!

I will be on the water in my brand new 23 Venture. She is beautiful!! Thanks for the hard work! You guys rock, delivered on time. No complaints. I love the new articulating windshield wipers, I didn't expect them and they look awesome as well as the cubby side steps. Nice surprise!

Mark, Nice photos, great job in the production, and I love the trade mark --> Shear stripes. Great to see those.

AND looking at Harald's album of his new V23, it looks great and especially the pantograhic wipers, EVEN on the center window. What a plus. Just wondering if that center window opens with that wiper there? That would be a hard trade off for me because I use that center window open frequently (slow cruising in protected waters -- NOT crossing Juan de Fuca
