As many of you may have noticed I've been working on purchasing the 1982 27' C-Dory that is down in Texas that was posted for sale on the C-Dogs site a couple months ago. As of last night the owner accepted my offer on the boat. So now comes a lot of legwork from a distance to get the boat from Texas. I'm going to be contacting a tire shop down there to have new bearings and tires put on the trailer and then I will be having a transport company bring the boat home. Hopefully I will have the boat before the end of June.
Once I have it home I will have quite a bit of work that will need to be done to get it ship shape. The boat has been sitting for about 2 years in covered storage and I will have to remove the outdrive and put new rubber boots on it. Plus I will have to do regular maintenance items like rebuilding the carb, doing a tune up and changing all the hoses, belts, and batteries.
My wife and I have decided to call it the "Migratory Dory" due to its originally being sold in Anchorage, AK and then being towed across country to Texas and now back "Home" to Fall City, Wa. Hopefully we can continues its migration by using it all over the Puget Sound!
