Mini Jacker installation (question)

I installed the T-H Marine Mini Jacker on my boat today. I haven't hung the motor yet since I'm giving the sealant a chance to cure first. The wood spacer that comes with it looks like plywood with lots of voids in the layers. I thought it might be cedar plywood since it's untreated, but I thought I'd ask. The instructions don't mention having to seal it, but it seems like it would break down pretty fast if it isn't sealed.

Anyone else already thought about this?

I put 4 coats of spar varnish on mine.

I've got six years on mine. It was untreated and it is holding up great. Will have to tend to it in the next year or two

Ours has been there 3 years and is still going strong.
