Mrs Byrd on the left visiting with Cathy from C-Pearl in the spring of '07 at a gathering at her home.

Many of us for years have enjoyed Mrs Byrds hospitality when visiting the Cumberland river and C-Brat gatherings at her home. You may have also met her at one of the Seattle gatherings.

I was informed by Pat (Byrdman) that Tuesday Norma was enjoying lunch with one of her daughters and grandchild when she mentioned she had a bad headache. Later while in a drug store they checked her blood pressure and then immediately proceeded to a hospital. She has been in a coma and the family doctor stated he hoped this stage was short.

Sad news; thank you for letting us know, Jeff. There will be many thoughts and prayers from the C-Brat family going out to Momma Bird, Pat, and family.

Very sad news indeed. I remember Momma Byrd from her visit at the C-Brat Gathering in Seattle during the boat show several years ago. My thoughts and prayers go to her, Pat and the rest of the family.

Prayers for Moma Byrd, Patrich and the rest of the family. I don't believe I ever met her, but I will never forget a night at the round table with Pat.

I lost my Dad to the same thing.

Pat, You have my deepest sympathy. My Grandmother suffered from a massive stroke this summer and was in a coma for two weeks before leaving us. I hope that your mother suffers no pain and that you are able to say good bye at her side.

Drove through Tennessee week before Thanksgiving on I40 enroute to Delaware and earlier this week returning to Las Vegas. Thought of Byrd family as we crossed the various rivers that are part of the Loop and discussed my continuing desire to make the journey someday.

Our best to the family.

Ive been thinking of those Byrds lately as well .Been out of touch for a while . Knowing Patrick and Mike is a pleasure , but never met Momma .They are true C Brats and most importantly good people .Momma probably has a lot to do with that ! My best to all in the Tennessee Byrd/Brat family !

I've spent about 8 weeks in that house on the lake being made to feel like family by Norma (and Pat as well). I'll keep her, Pat, and the rest of the family in my prayers and hope for the best.

I just got a text from Pat. He says he's been without Internet for a couple of days but as soon as he gets home he'll check in here with an update.

Pat,

Never met your mom but:-

Moms are unique.

You know that. So make sure you do all that you need to do and say all the things you have to say while you can.

We got all fingers and thumbs crossed for you,

Merv & kathy

Many Thanks to all. While we had the family gathered by her bed laughing and sharing about out great times together the C-Brat trips to Seatlle, the Thanksgiving we had 6 boats of C-Brats to kick off a Cumberland River Cruise, .....and many other trips were talked about. During one of her victories against cancer, I printed and shared the comments from the C-Brat site and she loved them. Many thanks to all of you.
Will be back in touch soon as things progress and at this point we are hoping this will not last long as Mom damn sure never wanted to on the sideline out of the fun but rather right in the center of it.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.....as I needed a bit of a pick me up before I head back to the hospital.

We like what SEA3PO and Merv & Kathy said. Keep squeezin' Mamma Byrd's hand --- keep telling her what she means to you all.

We're all still right there with you, Patrick.
