Great Roger! I saw the photo this AM in the paper. It is nice living in a Military town, where the heros of the past are respected and honored! Great that he made this last of the Honor Flights! For those who don't read the story there were hundreds of active duty (some from a ship which is going to be commissioned shortly) who came to the airport as well as many local citizens to welcome "Home" those who had been flown to DC for the day.

Awesome! And I thank your father for his service to this country.

My dad is a WWII [army] vet himself, although he never saw action; he was draftd towards the end of the European theatre and remained state-side once VE day arrived. He had never spoken about it until my mom died. I was speaking w/ him asking him questions about his service etc. He was stationed in Texas, and in New York. I asked him what they trained him to do. His answer: "Kill people...be a soldier". He said it with this smirk on his face, as if I had asked the stupidest question in the world. I guess I had.

The pics I have of him back then are priceless to me. He wanted nothing of them, so I took them and passed some to my brothers. What an amazing time in our nation's history. He was so young.

Great picture. Some of us old ones stick around and enjoy life. WWII seens a while back to me, and not much I miss except my buddies. No need for "Thanks for your service" because the service is its own reward. The ones who deserve the thanks are the ones who didin't make it.

Best wishes and greetings to your dad from another white-headed old WWII geezer.
