need advice

I have a 40 hp 2 strokeYamaha now and I am upgrading to a Honda 50 hp 4 stroke and I have Yamaha controls and I read somewhere that you can use Yamaha controls by using some kind of adapters, has anyone done this and if so can you hit me up with the right link to buy them, Thanks.

Hi & welcome aboard! What year model engines (both) are we talking about here? Confirming mechanical and not electric controls? If mechanical, how old are the cables? Unless you or someone else has lubed the cables occasionally (doubtful), you might want to consider replacing them anyways if they’re more than 10 years old. Change out both the throttle and shifting cables if they’re aged.

Sea Story time:
I was mid-channel on the way to Catalina Island in So-Cal (11 nm from any land) when the throttle cable on my leased 45’ blowboat quit working. There was no wind yet at the time. Upon inquiring with the owner about a spare cable aboard, he said, “Nah man, those things last like 20 years!”
Well… the boat was over 20 years old and the cable had never been changed.
