Nested Cookware Set For Induction Stove

Looking to replace my old Nested Cookware Set (aluminum non-stick) with one that is also nested yet suitable for induction cooktops (magnetic).

Induction cooking

Preferably stainless w/removable handles.

This Magma fits the bill but it isn't induction capable.

I found this Fagor Rapid Chef 16-piece Induction Nesting Cookware Set but it's a little more than I want to spend at $167.95 + s&h. on the net. Overkill really.

Any suggestions ?

Most stainless pans are not ferromagnetic and don't work well with induction cook tops. You can find some stainless pans that will work but they're rare relative to those that won't work. The Fagor set you've already identified is the only one I've found that meets your criteria. Here's a link that might be a tad cheaper.

We use the Fagor set on the Wallas. Lucked out when we bought it at Camping World for $70.00 on a close out. Of course that was a few years ago.

Pete,
What induction stove are you using? We are strongly considering induction on the C Dory 22.

Not a one of our SS pans in our kitchen were magnetic, so one of the set linked above looks to be in the future!

Ebay Chinese

Works great with 1000 watt generator.

Allows the Wallas to act as furnace only so I don't freeze while I cook breakfast.

Sorta new to cooking on a boat and specifically the Wallace.

What type of pot material is required/recommended and why do the cuisinart ones not meet that standard?

Thanks,

We bought the same Fagor set at Camping World on a closeout for #75.00 a few years ago. Didn't realize what a deal we got.

After doing some reading about induction stove and ferromagnetic pans, I am unsure if I need this.

Can someone please reaffirm that the Wallace stoves are NOT induction, and therefore do not need special pots/pans. Is this correct?

If this is the case, what are you folks using onboard by way of induction stove?

The Wallas is a diesel stove and does not require induction or special pans. It works as a heater OR stove, so if you were cooking in very cold weather you may want to use both. In very hot weather it might make more sense to just use induction.

If you have a Wallas, most pans should work fine, and some experimenting before adding an induction cooktop might be worthwhile. That said, induction cooking is really safe and reliable and a good plan if you have the electric power available..

The wallas stove is a drip pot stove running on diesel or kerosene. The top is a ceramic material--similar to the top of an induction stove, but that is about the only similarity, except that true flat bottom pans work much better on the Wallas, as on the induction stove. The flat bottom pans have better heat conduction.

One caution: when buying induction cook ware be sure and read the reviews--the ones posted by Aliq has excellent reviews. But a number of folks have purchased from Amazon and found issues. We are still considering a induction back up for the C Dory 22 and RV.

Well, we finally got the induction stove....er.. single "burner" Walmart has a section "seen on TV" and they have the NuWave burner with a frying pan for about $99. I went back over the pots in the kitchen, and found one SS pot which is magnet, and have the frying pan. Still looking for a smaller pot--may to go kitchen places, Target and Walmart with my magnet in hand maybe even the thrift shop--we sure don't need another set of $175 cookware.

This unit uses 600 watts on low: (100 to 175 degrees), 600 watts on Med/low: 175 to 270 degrees: 800 Watts on Med: (275 to 370 degrees)
1000 Watts on Med/high: (375 to 420 degrees) 1200 watts on High: (425 to 560 degrees and 1300 watts on Sear. I have only tried it up to high, and the Kill-O-Watt meter seems to check out the power consumption. This means that we can use it on the Honda EU 1000 up to 800 watts.
