I recognized this boat right away because I am an old-timer fly fisherman.
See ... back in the 50's a guy would take a truck inner tube and lash a strip of canvas across it to be used for a float tube. He could cruise around in lakes or really slow-moving water by donning a pair of chest waders and some swim fins. We were all hardy specimens then and we didn't mind bugs, rain, sleet or even mud. Our bladders had huge capacities then, too.
In the 60's they were being sold in the catalogues with improved seats and places to attach your fly rod and a thermos. In the 70's they came already rigged with seats that had comfortable backs and storage for your lunch and a rainjacket. In the 80's you could buy a catamaran-style "kick boat" for one person. It got your butt out of the wet; it had oars, a place to rest your feet out of the water and a little shelf in the back for your stuff and a small dog.
In the 90's these had grown to two-person getups with a place to stand and enough room to pack camping gear and coolers. I think there was on option for a rack for a portable TV so you could fish and watch the bass tournament at the same time.
This one must be the model for the new millenium. You can take the whole darts team out now, protected from the elements, and still be able to experience nature's wonders without ever getting wet or slimed by a fish.
I wonder where I can get one?
