Sea Angel

New member
Hi All;
I now have the HIN and shipping date for our CD25.. OH JOY!!!!

Number '405 is scheduled to leave factory for the east coast, Monday, 30 Aug., to be delivered to Cutter Marine in Essex, MD, fm there to Norfolk/Va. Beach, VA.. Oh hearts be still, all you in Va Beach, come and enjoy a tour.
:D

Just got word... :sad ... Shipment delayed till 7/8 Sept...

Well, this will give me a little more time to save for the toys.

I am glad that the crew at CD look after the quality of their work. I am sure the wait will be well worth the test of patience.

Congratulations on your new purchase, Art. I suspect that the last two digits (05) of the 405 that you mentioned is the year of the model. My 25 footer was hull #53 and is now 1 year old. I'd imagine your boat is somewhere between 60 and 100. Just a minor detail that I thought worth mentioning. Looks like the 25's are starting to catch on. Welcome to the pub and let us know if you have any questions or comments. I sure like my 25.

Good luck getting to sleep, Art. Shoot, even I'm excited about your new boat! Congratulations!

Mine hull is 006. Or did they start the count over when they changed the manufacturer's code to CDO from DOR?

Art, just for you I broke all the nerd rules. (Not to worry, Da Nerd is somewhere north of his computer right now, so I won't get in too much trouble.)

Since you are so far from seeing this fine vessel that you are about to entrust to some hard-drinking, lead-footed, half-awake truck driver, I fixed it up so maybe you can get a picture of her before she hits the road.

Right here is a new photo album called Sea Angel. It is set up with you as the album owner, and two other outstanding CB members having the necessary permissions to post pictures in it. Those two people are none other than C-Puffin and Boatguy. Word has it that they know some folks on the inside at C-Dory and could probably sneak a photo or two of your boat and post them here.

So, let's get to working on these guys and get a look at this boat!!

Hi Larry & Mike;

Thankjavascript:emoticon(':D')
Very Happys for the encouragement. I had a very nice call today from Jeff, at CD.....
He explained to me that the boat was heldup due to a change. Seems they have added an extra layer of glass to the hull. It sounds like she will be a little heavier and stiffer, which is fine with me. The Ches. Bay can give you real ride , right out of the blue at times. They have also reworked some of the cabinetry.[ I don't know just what was changed here.]

Jeff said he would try to get me some pixs of the helm/electronics area to help me plan my toy selections. I was going to buy the ICOM 602 or 502 and mount it on the top shelf, but found it is only 4" below the roof line... It will have to hang under the shelf.

We talked abt the Garmin 2010C and how much space it took at the helm. I hope to see that pix. A lot of electronic sales are starting to showup here, so I want to be prepared to take advantage of these. I must have some sheckles left to stock to frig with cold sodas for the USCGAUX patrol crew, when I get her wet.

The HIN as I have is CD025075H405. I assume from the thread that the '...75.. is the 75th CD25 off the line, and not the month/year [July/05] of manufacture. I always thought the last 3 digits were the sequence number. Maybe you could clarify that for me.

As to PIXs, I will start to send them when I can get some. I do have a pix of the same model and color as what I ordered, but it is just not the same.

A fast thought for which I did not do any homework on your earlier threads. How and where did you guys mount your transducers?? If you used a thru hull, how far forward di you place it? I did add air cond. and the Wallas Stove to the Sea Angel.

Agn, thanks for sharing my late life's joy....

Art- Congradulations on the new 25!

Here's what your CDO25075H405 HIN (Hull Identification Number for those who don't know the term) translates to

CDO C-Dory, formerly DOR

25-25 foot model

075 hull number in the 25 series (75th made)

H 8th month of the year, August

4 4th day of the month

05 2005 model year --Used to be year made, I believe.

Hope this is correct! Joe.

Right on, Joe. I think the date is referred to as "Date of Certification", but is almost always the manufacture date, as well.

If you're bored, here's a neat read in our Documents Forum that I believe was originally found and shared by Mr. Cheers Bob: HIN 101

You Guys are great ! Thanks for clearing up all those numbers. I can now get some sleep tonite... AND dream of what and where to place my toys....

Hey Charlie!
It is still in Kent awaiting a lost driver with a broken truck to haul her to the right coast! The radar is still in my check book, along with all else but the radio and hailer.

She sure is pretty though.

August 4th? That's a special day in the maritime world...Aug. 4, 1790. Hey your boat was built on the Coast Guard's birthday! How's THAT for a bit of trivia? Hope you enjoy her!

Rick

Hi All;

OOOOOOHH JOY! :D
Sea Angel has left the factory on her trip across country to Baltimore/Essex, MD where Cutter will put a few 'nice things' on board before arriving here in Norfolk/VA Beach for power rigging.

I took advice from many of you and added the WALLAS stove, Horizon 600 windlass, Air Cond., ICOM 502 VHF, HORIZON Hailer and the twin HONDA 90s. The rest is still in the checkbook and waiting to come out. This is where a test of patience is performed. With cruising, photography and USCGAUX as my focus; the setup should be for flexibility and comfort.

I am running thru the engine gauge and fuel flow land mine a little ahead of time. The RADAR/ Chartplotter/GPS/ Sounder stuff and Autopilot is a wait and see. I don't know how the helm layout will work yet for these items. A lot has been said about the helm 'stuff' ; soooo, I must filter all and see what falls out and what fits.

Any of you CD25 owners out there who has any suggestions as to where to put a thru-hull transducer, if at all, please hit me with your inputs. I am still thinking about the Interphase TwinScope...

As one other C-Brat indicated... there goes part of my IRA..

Thanks so much for the thread on the HIN#. We recently got our HIN #. It is CDO25082F405. I thought it was just some random info. Now it has meaning. You folks are the greatest.

We are hoping to take delivery sometime in early October. Still need bottom paint and window covers. All the electronics are in and it is starting to look really nice.

Can anyone make any recommendations on reasonably priced full mooring covers?

While checking on the electronics installation, I noticed another 25 footer with twin 90's was in the same marina for service. The name on the side was C-Dragon. Nice looking craft.

The thing that really stands out is the difference in the trailers. C-Dragon sits on a roller type trailer whereas the King salt water trailer that came with our boat is a bed type.

Is there a significant advantage/disadvantage to one type trailer versus the other? Do C-Dory buyers tend to choose the type of trailer or is it common, as in our case, to just get the trailer the boat is sitting on? As a real novice I dont have a clue about the trailer other than I knew I wanted a salt water trailer.

Would some of you folks be willing to share your opinions on one type versus the other for my education? Thanks so much.

Steve and Wendy Hausotter on a still un-named 25 Cruiser.

:D :D :D :D
YES! Our long awaited Sea Angel will have a sea trial tomorrow at 1000. Those 4 blade SS props on the twin 90s look great and ready to rule.

I have boxes of stuff to mount and a lot of heart felt thanks to all who have lent me their opinions and wisdom for the outfitting. I will try to post some pixs later.

I look forward to cruising on the right coast around the Chesee' Bay. More to follow. Again much thanks.

EXCELLENT...sounds like an exciting time for you. I suppose there is no better way to snap out of the late fall doldrums that a new boat. Those boxes you mention, are they in fact weapons of cash destruction?

I almost poo-pooed a brick. I just got home from a job related road trip and saw the post looking at the dates, but obviously not too closely. My wife and I are going to put in an order for a 25' after Christmas (her timing... who the hell knows why, but) and I saw August as the planned delivery date for something ordered now not paying close attention to the year. I almost fell over. I almost was in tears thinking I'd have to wait 11+ months for my Dory. I know it's not a manly thing to show this kind of psychic duress, but Hell, I have worked for the moment for what seems eons and besides, It took a coon's age to talk the wife in to it.
I'm on even keel now and besides, it's worth the wait for what the Dory represents. Right? My objective in future life is to out fish Captain's Choice, LOL. Sorry Charlie... Butch
